That dead one was violated! "Moooon River...." :)

I could have sworn I heard banjos playing in the distant background.

To answer your topic question.........his! Keep yours! Its not that bad. While hunting in CO this last year a couple of GA boys were with me and I got to witness there method......leave em' in! They just used a gambrel and let the guts stay in the cavity. We cut all the meat right off of the bone and discarded the carcass. Different but effective.

Thats what I said. This deer was a doe so we weren't going for the head. All the guts just piled up in the upper chest cavity when hung upside down. I have to say I was educated! Of course it was bone ass cold at 10,000 feet where we were camping. We shot it at about 9k and drove up to our site. I wouldn't do it this way down here with the heat and all.

Evidence of species or sex of big game animals must not be destroyed prior to a permanent kill tag having been issued at a checking station. Normal field dressing, quartering, and icing down of the meat is permitted.

Aren't the antlers, tarsal glands, etc. also evidence of sex? I have checked in close to 100 deer, do not keep the genitals, and have never had a problem. Several have been checked by TWRA agents, and so far, no problems.

As far as the field dressing, the warm guts feel pretty good to frozen fingers on a cold morning.

Refer to the TN playbook for confusion on this matter about evidence/identification of sex! Might be different for each piece of dirt you hunt on.

I always cheated. I was in Ny, where theres snow by deer season, and I'm the only one who could get the 4 wheeler up through the woods with snow on the ground, so i always got to say "here dad, gut this, I'll run down and get the 4-wheeler".

What part of NY? I'll be in Western NY for their opening day at a corner of a cherry orchard.

Thats exactly how I do it. Hell I even take a jar and save the poop and pee and use it.

I would leave them just incase there is that one time you get in trouble.

Thank you  I used to freeze it in my moms deep freezer, until she caught me. Then I would just hide it at the bottom. I cleaned the outside of the jar before I put it in the freezer. I would use canning jars and lids, they make a good air tight fit so nothing leaked out. You know maybe I could use that butt out tool to save the poop that way instead of cutting open the intestines.
