17HMR is apparently dissimilar to 22LR :)

You know how it is after a long day of shooting--you've been plinking at a 22LR-rated target at 30 yards with a Buckmark, and keep getting that itch to hit it with something else. :)

Well, I'm a weak man, and I shot 1 round of 32-grain 17HMR at a target designed for 22LR. I know this is cheap steel, but I was still impressed with the clean through and through hole it punched:

At least I hit it with one shot! :D

I have the same spinner target for 22lr and I also thought that the 17hmr wouldn't hurt it,I also got the same results as you got! LOL

Outstanding!

I take great pleasure in blowing holes through steel. Destructive yes, but curiosly satisfying.

If you had posted about it, I could have saved my target! :D

The dent (without a hole) on the left is from a 5.7 x 28mm round. It just glanced off it.

Garufa doesn't waste time on any steel with teeny calibers like that.

He would have vaporized one only rated for .22.
