17HMR is apparently dissimilar to 22LR :)

You know how it is after a long day of shooting--you've been plinking at a 22LR-rated target at 30 yards with a Buckmark, and keep getting that itch to hit it with something else.

Well, I'm a weak man, and I shot 1 round of 32-grain 17HMR at a target designed for 22LR. I know this is cheap steel, but I was still impressed with the clean through and through hole it punched:

At least I hit it with one shot!

I have the same spinner target for 22lr and I also thought that the 17hmr wouldn't hurt it,I also got the same results as you got! LOL

The dent (without a hole) on the left is from a 5.7 x 28mm round. It just glanced off it.

Garufa doesn't waste time on any steel with teeny calibers like that.

He would have vaporized one only rated for .22.

32grain 17HMR? Where did you get that and how accurate is it? I thought you had to go to a .204 for that kind of weight. maybe a 17 rem?

Yeah, I messed up on describing the weight. I have a 204 Ruger (Savage) and I was confusing the two. This was 20-grain stuff.
