I think the other folks posting have made excellent points, especially Jason. Today companies outsource all kinds of things. The result has been an overall lowering of prices, which allows people to buy more things, thus employing more people.

But even if a part is made in Japan, it takes an importer, a dockworker, a transportation company, a jobber, a wholesaler, etc etc to get the part to the ultimate consumer. Virtually all of those are Americans.

One point seldom mentioned is that the U.S. is a net importer of jobs from other places. So we get more jobs than we give away. And still get benefits.

I suppose the same argument could be used that the petroleum consumption of the US is what primarily funds terrorist operations which kill Americans.

But, in reality, countries and groups will find a way to carry out their agenda with or without our help. (ie N. Korea)

Hey Phantom,

Not very politically correct(thank God) but funny as hell...

Well, I don't do politically correct. Glad you liked it.

Having worked "in house" at one of the big three auto makers, you are very lucky if the car is even assembled in the US. In some cases it just final assembly, meaning chrome and other decorative items. There are a few that are mostly home made; Jeep Wrangler and Chevy Corvette to name just two. But the Jap Auto Makers have the US companies beat there to as most of the parts for their cars are produced in the US with tier two and three suppliers.
