I just wanted to put a plug in for my Gunsmith and range owner Hal Wade in Chapmansboro TN (up by Clarksville). Customgunsmithingtn I believe on the Web. Need an honest expert? Hal's the guy. Nice range in a country setting also. (although don't feel the need to take up my range time:)

Is this the guy in the big red building on Knox Rd? If not I'm sorry but if it is i took SW revolver to him for repairs. When I went to pick it up the trigger was binding and locking up. He told me it would "wear in with use" ;) . I kinda threw a fit and made him fix it. Third trip from Nashville to Chapmansboro, pick up gun, seems ok, get it home and find every screw(including ejector rod) is loose, I mean I could unscrew them with my finger nails or fingers :screwy:. Needless to say, I will never make another trip to Chapmansboro. Rating :D

Yes that would be the place. I am sorry that you had an unpleasant experience but mine is just the opposite. Hal has checked guns for me I didn't even buy from him no charge. He has given me excellent advice and ALWAYS stands behind anything he sells.

I am out there every other week (this weekend included) so maybe try again. It is a cool little place.

Dick Binkley used to run the shop. I had Dick bed and float a Rem 700 about 20 years ago. Did a good (not great, aesthetically) job. Took a 1911 to him for a build. Functioned well and shot ok. However, part of the build was to undercut the trigger guard...could have done a prettier job with my Dremel and tequila shots. I'm pretty sure he let one of his 'apprentices' perform the work. Fit and finish of the build sucked overall. If you get your hair cut a barber college, you get a bad haircut. My expectations when paying for premium work is to get premium work. If they want to use my gun as a training opportunity, they should pay me. Hope Hal runs a tighter ship.

Great to hear. I will stop by and pick up a new one later this week and took a long weekend to go to the range. He has great prices and if you are one of his customers, he will make it right. I bought a Kahr PM45 from him and it was a little hard to break in. Instead of me having to send it back, he took it, did a little polishing and it is now flawless. No muss no fuss.

You just don't run into folks like this very often anymore.
