Hey everyone,

New to the forum and new to the Chattanooga area. I just moved here and have been looking around for a good shop for pistol sales. Any recommendations other than Sportsmans?

Thanks,

Chris

Sadly...no...not any good ones in comparison to HG, Benton, or elsewere.

There are many who sell pistols in chattanooga, but the warning flags are raised when they have used guns that cost more than retail in most good shops.

only good shop i've found is skip's firearms in ooltewah www.skipsfirearms.com

He won't have much in stock but can order it and has great prices.

If you don't mind a drive, hero-gear in winchester has a great selection, staff, and prices - and joe is an active member/vendor on the site. www.hero-gear.com

Sportmans only charges 10% above their cost, so even if you ordered one, by the time you pay shipp & transfer fee you might actually pay a little more!

Skip is the best there is! But he has only 1 or 2 guns in Stock and mainly does Transfer's!

Depends on what kind of gun you want.

There is a pawn shop over on lee highway that has a lot of pistols, I was very impressed. I will try to get the phone number for you.

You might also want to check out Carter Shooting Supply, although not technically in Chattanooga it is pretty close.

Although sadly, Chattanooga is pretty sparse on good gun dealers :D

when Darr's Shooting closed, that sealed the deal for decent gun dealers around here with the exception of Skip. i have heard good things about his place, although i have never been there.

Another recomendation for Hero-Gear (you'll find they are very popular here, and for good reason). They have an excellent selection of pistols, and can pretty much order anything you want. Their prices are good as well, just gotta go over the mountain....

Skip is the man when it comes to customer service in the gun business in Chatt!

Silversfirearms is excellent, but hard to find....

Silvers Firearms

and I like Carters in Harrison (some here don't care for the boss, but he has always treated me right, and he has a fair selection of Kimber, GLOCK and Taurus, and evil black rifles.)

Might want to call him first, since when i picked up my last ordered gun there, he had 2 guns for sale and some Holster's!

There is always VOW in Cleveland and they also have a great selection of all Guns, they are about 2 miles from the Clev. Speedway!

More like .2 mile. Easy to miss, but they have a good inventory and reasonable prices.

If you know what you want, Skip's is probably yor best bet.

Call first (423-238-4800) to find out when he is there.

Hey I found a flyer from the place I was talking about.

It is J and M Pawn Broker Firearms Dealer

423 305 1010

They had glocks there for 500 bucks new, not a bad price?

5821 Lee Hwy

That's the one next to the biker bar I'm pretty sure? I pop in there most times I'm in Nooga.

Everything I've seen in there is at least 20% higher than elsewhere.

HiPoint carbine was $265 for example.

But hey, if they really do have $500 glocks, that's good. Maybe they got some special deal.

Its a bit north of Chattanooga, but an excellent shop non the less. Fugates Firearms in Calhoun, TN. They have very good prices on guns and a good inventory. Don't thing you can take advantage of the lady who owns and runs the shop, she knows what she is doing.

While on a motorcycle trip last week I stopped at Hero Gear in Winchester, TN. They had an excellent selection of handguns and gear. It is a nice drive from Chattanooga going through Monteagle and Sawanee.

My personal favorite is Benton Shooters Supply in Benton TN. Carters in Harrison is okay. Sometimes you can find something interesting there and it's worth a visit. Ammo Dump along Hwy 58 is improving in terms of inventory since it was sold. I was some what surprised the last time I visited as I usually expect to see two or three handguns and a couple rilfes that I have little interest in. Much better now. I've purchased two rifles from them this year so far.

Big Daddy's below South Pittsburgh is worth a visit. I find some of their prices very high and others quite competitve. They ae in AL, but TN sales are not a problem as they have a pawn shop that they transfer handguns to to keep it in-state for TN residents.

carters (harrison) has decent prices but the most unpersonable customer service i have ever seen. Benton Shooters Supply might as well be a chain. VOW as mentioned are very nice and have decent prices. Never been to Skips. Darr's (RIP). another +1 for Fugate's in Calhoun. There was one in Dalton (forgot the name anyone) but it was usually well stocked

+1 from me for Fugate's Firearms... the lady also teaches the TN HCP Firearms course... significantly cheaper than in the Chattanooga area.... I paid $50 for my class last year. :D

I think someone already mentioned them but I recently met the folks from Volunteer Ordinance Works in Cleveland TN when they were at the RK show this past weekend at Chillhowee. They also have a web site: Volunteer Ordnance Works

If you go to Volunteer, go during the week as they take almost their entire stock with them to guns shows on the weekends.
