Two problems with removing it yourself

1. I am positive that S&W will not warranty it after it has been removed by owner

2. It leaves a hole in the frame of the gun

I wish they would resume selling them without the crapy lock, better yet I wish Colt would resume production of their revolvers

Just do like I do. Buy the old ones without the stupid lock! You can usually find a nice one for less than a new stupid one.

I have been thinking about that, the funny thing about me is that I have never bought a used gun, I think I may have to start :D

Most of what I buy now is used. Just about every mfg. has a lifetime warranty. Just look for the best condition that you can afford. My ratio is probably around 80% used and 20% new.

Just grind the nub off. leave the flag in. No hole, no lock.

+1 on Colt revolvers.

I was able to find a very nice Model 15-4 snubnose (made around 1980) for a good price--no lock. :screwy:

I would let S&W fold and die as a company -even- if it could be prevented by me buying just one of those guns with an internal lock.

Whoever thought that putting an IL rather than including the cable was a good idea should be tarred and feathered.
