Last weekend I bought the first part of my riffle build.

Charles Daly Defense striped lower receiver.

Still learning a lot about the AR15 riffles and researching all my options for triggers, uppers, rails, stocks etc. Not going to a quick build, will definitely be spread out over time.

And done, since I haven't ordered the stock yet.

The options are really endless. If you're anything like me, you'll drive yourself nuts during the process. You'll probably change your mind more than a few times along the way.

I would suggest making the trip to Hero-Gear, or attempt to find a place that has AR parts in stock. A place where you can actually put your hands on the stuff.

Here are a few good places to look for parts online.

Bravo Company USA, Inc. AR-15, M16, M4 Tactical Gear, Parts, Accessories.

BROWNELLS : World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools

MidwayUSA — Shooting Supplies, Reloading, Gunsmithing, Hunting, Ammunition, Gun Parts & Rifle Scopes

There are lots more, but those are my favorites.

I've been looking at Bravo Company, Brownells, and some others.

The guy at the range where I bought my lower mention ar15-kits.com too.

Hero-Gear is about 5 hour drive, but I have considered driving out there once I get close to buying a lot of parts at one time.

Please let me know if you want to go. I want to make the trip and I'm trying to talk Shorty into it as well!

Hows the build going? I bought a lower over the weekend and am ordering my LPK tomorrow. Ill have a complete lower before the end of the month but the upper is going to take a little longer.

I started assembling my LDK last night, I got the mag catch in  . Thought I had some punches, but I can't find them so picking up a set today or tomorrow. I ordered my complete upper assembly over the weekend.

All that is left is to finish assembling the lower receiver, order a rear sight and stock. The upper should be here in the next day or so.

If you have not already installed your detents and take-down pins, do yourself a favor and get an AR15 detent installation tool. It makes life a lot easier.

There are tricks to doing it without one, but it's not worth the hassle when the tool itself is only $4.

Vise grips, razor blades, special tools, action blocks? How will you guys ever appreciate your first build unless you turn it into a one man version of the 3 Stooges like I did.

I used a punch set, suction down vise grip, nylon and ball-peen hammers, flathead screwdriver, razorblade, and some clothes.

Looks good man. I've got to figure out what to do for an upper now. I figure mine will be complete in October and then we need to go shoot.

Edit: my LPK came in today. I was able to put everything together except the bolt catch and I still need to finish hammering in the trigger guard roll pin. Incredibly easy.
