random thoughts on our gvernment and it's role

Each and every day, as read "the news", I notice that we are becoming a more and more repressed society. Our representatives are moving farther and farther to a government that is more like a dictatorship than a republic.

It maybe that I'm a bit paranoid( I'm willing to accept that). However, being a student of history, I wonder at what point our military and or LEO's quit accepting blind obedience to there appointing authorities and side with the people they serve.

We, as a society, have decided ,over time, that our police and military should have a decided advantage over the populace in the forms of power and weaponry "for the public good". However, having seen Germany under nazi control and the Soviet Union under Stalinism, I'm not so sure those were wise decisions. My gut feeling is that the "public servants" under those regimes didn't agree with their government but followed orders.

Will our public servants do the same? My instinct say yes.

I have never had fear of the goverment until recently. The fact is, I thought that owners of high capacity semi-autos were a bunch of over-zealous conspiracy theorists. My opinions are rapidly changing. I guess I've become and over-zealous conspiracy theorist myself.

The cops will continue to do as they are told as long as they get a paycheck. Just look to the post-Katrina gun grab. We've already seen where their loyalties lie... Screw the Constitution.

It remains to be seen how many of the military would remember their oath was to protect the Constitution vs being disciplined for not following orders.

These are valid and thought-provoking observations. I tend to agree about the civil authorities. Regarding the Military; we have a volunteer military who take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I think they take that oath very seriously. I know several young people in the military (West Point) who I believe are completely dedicated to preserving and defending the Constitution; not serving a bunch of political thugs. That makes me very proud to know these young people and gives me hope concerning the next generation. I believe that the military as it is currently constituted today is the best defense this country has against what you and I are both concerned about.

It will be a great day when this hippy socialist trash dies off and lies in the ground, and this evil intrusion into American liberty is finished. The greatest threat this country faces is not Kim Jong Ill, islamofacism, or any foreign power; it is the conquest from within that you are concerned about. God bless our military and those with enough backbone to believe the truth.

Thats how i see things this morning thru my old bespeckled eyes.

I agree with all of the above...but despite my respect for the military and police authorities, I suspect that both will simply follow orders at least at first...there may come a time when they balk, but MUCH dfamage will have been done by then...I lived in Germany for quite a while and I know many germans very well, and I have a theory about how the Nazis were so successful...Those people, for the most part are a VERY law abiding people...they follow the rules...they sept the Nazis into power at a time when the country was devastated and in chaos...the nazis were the salvation, according to Hitler...then, as they took power...they began changing the rules, or laws...the ones that were unpleasant to the Germans were kept a blind eye to...things got out of hand before the populace had a chance to resist, then it was too late....I have read much about the Nazis and the way they took over...read up on it, read up on their ideas, ideals and p-rograms...they sound VERY much like the current govt we have...or the one they want to become...don't take my word for it, look it up yourselves...there are MANY books out right now that factually document all of what I am saying...people its time to beware...if we dont vote these guys out soon, we won't be able to get them out...
