I think something is wrong with my Ruger

I've had about 250 rounds through it, cleaned after every shooting...and this is happening on the end of my barrel. What is it? Should I contact Ruger? It's not a crack, it's more like a groove. It wasn't there before and I bought the gun new.

just a preliminary observation but it looks like stress markings from sub-standard metal used to make the barrel.

maybe a gunsmith will chime in

It was .38spl +p fired from a 357 magnum. It was a box of Remington 100ct

Sounds like good advice to me. This really sounds like you might have a case against Ruger for a defective gun. Im playing dont get your panties in a bunch.

Yeah, but it's not a straight shot down the bore because the grooves wouldn't show up. So does anyone have an idea what may be causing this?

In all seriousness, I would send it back to Ruger, it appears that your barrel was built with inferior metal

Can you see down the bore very well. If the surface of the bore looks like alligator hide or a bunch of dry cracks in a mudhole, it could be a surface form of stress corrosion cracking. You see this sort of thing every now and then (very seldom, in fact) in stainless steel parts. If it is, it should go back to Ruger who will fix the problem im sure.

Got a borescope? I bet it looks pretty bad in there. I would keep detailed files.

Send it to Ruger. Call them first for a free return tag. It has a lifetime warranty. They will probably throw in a free hat or something if you don't threaten to sue them!
