That picture is actually of Wrightsville Beach...a few miles from Wilmington. Let me know if you have any specific questions...my parents have a house there and I've been going there for 25 years. :D

There is a great bar on the ICW (Intercoastal Waterway) right before the drawbridge headed to Wrightsville, called Dockside. Also, many more cool places in downtown Wilmington.

Awesome.

I'll actually be at UNCW,and will be staying somewhere close by there.

I know there will be plenty to do,but I'd like to stay away from any college type hangouts(unless of coarse there's wet ts)

Other then that I'm pretty much open to suggestions.

IIRC, the USS North Carolina (battleship) is there, and you can tour it. If you're into that type of stuff.

Downtown Wilmington is pretty cool as well...there is a boardwalk that goes along the Cape Fear River (lots of One Tree Hill is filmed there) and some great restaurants along the way. When I am there, I usually focus on beach activities and never really mix with the UNCW crowd.

If you like burritos - Flaming Amy's Burrito Barn on Oleander (pretty close to UNCW).

Best hot dogs - Trolley Stop @ Wrightsville Beach.

Not sure how much free time you will have, but Southport is a cool little city (try Provision Company for a great lunch on the water). There are also some other good beach communities close by - Topsail, Carolina Beach, etc. They all seem to have their own style, if that makes sense.

There is a good seafood restaurant on Wrightsville Beach called Oceanic, where you can eat out on the pier.

If you want to get some exercise (and watch some hotties run by in tight shirts), the paved loop around the center of Wrightsville is a good time. I think it is 2 miles or so...

Causeway Cafe @ Wrightsville serves up a great breakfast, but be prepared to wait on the weekends.

Johnny Mercer pier at Wrightsville allows fishing and is accessible. It used to be free, but I think you have to pay a couple bucks for access (a hurricane destroyed the old wooden pier and this new one is a pretty impressive concrete structure).

Oh yea, Redix is a can't miss store on Wrightsville. They have everything from shirts to souveniers to clothes to tackle and food. It's a staple for the town.

Hopefully that gives you a few ideas, sorry it is so scattered and focused on Wrightsville...I'll see what else I can come up with more centered around Wilmington.
