Calling and checking on it has no effect on the process, positive or negative. If it makes you feel better, do it.

Sorry, just wrong.

A call at 3 weeks to a month, assuming there are no background glitches on one's record, has OBVIOUSLY sped things up for most folks. Just WAY too many posts about "issued today" or "will be issued today" after a call to discount the effectiveness of the practice.

It is a big deal! Good job.

+1. congrats on getting your permit!!

PS - looks like you shot fantastic for a 1st-timer!! :screwy: that said however, there is a HUGE difference between slow-fire with a .22, and ASAP fire from a major-caliber pistol. drawing from concealment presents a whole new set of difficulties as well...

my advice is a mixture of previous posts, for what it's worth...

YES, DO practice as often as possible... (this will entail finding a range where you are allowed to practice realistically, not just slow fire from low ready)

and YES, DO GET TRAINING...I've been shooting since old enough to hold a gun, and am still seeking more training/improvement all the time. my biggest concern after taking the HCP class was the lack of actual "gun time" involved. make no mistake...the HCP class DOES NOT mean that you now know how to safely handle a gun. you're gonna have to learn that elsewhere...

That was my experience... I made "the call" after 3 weeks and mine was issued that day.... I think it works too.....
