Ft. Lewis ?

Hope you don't get stuck on the north side.

When is the last time you were at Lewis?

North Fort used to suck the big one back in the early/mid 90s, but they dumped a TON of money into it, and I dont see why being "stuck" over there would be all that bad.

**I believe his son is in 5/20 Infantry which (unless they have moved) is over on main post.

Joe is correct, the military has thrown a big pile of money at base housing over the last 10-15 years, especially at family units.

He's with 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 123 SBCT. We are being sponsored by the Brigade Commander (hardship deployment, spouse in clinicals and two toddlers, stop-loss 3rd deployment), and will be living with the daughter-in-law and grandkids in a newly remodeled 3 bedroom townhouse on Mann Ave, between the base golf course and Gray Airfield off of I-5. I've not seen it, but my bride tells me it's directly on a Park and quite nice. I've only been on the base one time and that was to visit the museum and Brigade HQ.

I would like to take up this space to say thank you to all of you that I've come to know either personally or via the forum over the last two years I've been in Tennessee. To say that I've enjoyed our exchanges over this time would be an understatement. I can't think of a more fun, sincere and wonderful bunch of people as those I've had the pleasure to meet while I resided here.

I've lived all over the country and I must say Tennessee is my most favorite.

I'm hoping I'll have an opportunity to return in about a year.

They'll be shutting down my Internet Monday night and I'll be off the forum for a week or so as I make my way to Ft. Lewis Washington.

I'd start handing out special thanks to the people that have assisted me as I prepare for departure, but then we'd have to start a whole 'nother forum. You've all been great and I hope you know who you are. However, I must single out Smith for having the heart, patience and attention to accept Gus into his family.

I'll continue to be an active member on this forum as time allows...

To good times, interesting conversation, cold brews and hot weapons. I hope to see you all again real soon.

Glen

Good luck in Washington and if you make it up to Whidbey Island, be sure to stop in Toby's Tavern in Coopeville for a beer and burger :-).
