Tell me what you think of this

So, I placed an add on Craig's List for a wheel and tire. I get a fairly quick response which is almost raising a red flag with me. I don't wish to risk security for my family at home with strangers coming around. I'm not too sure about this. 1st the grammar is off, 2nd is the request for personal info, 3rd is the 3rd party pick up. Lemme know what you think.

"Thanks for the quick response, I'll really like to have the item but unfortunately I wouldn't have time to be around in person so pls I'll be sending you a Check via

my bank for the cost of the item. I'll also be sending someone come pick the item

up on my behalf.I hope you do understand...So I'll like you to provide me with the

following information so as to notify my bank for issuance of payment of the item.

1.Full name to be on the check

2.Home or work address (Ups doesn't deliver to P.O Boxes)

3.Phone number

4 The final price.

As soon as you have cashed the check

I'll make arrangement with my mover concerning the pick up. Pls do me a favor of

removing the Ad from CL as I'm committed to buying it.

Thanks and have a nice day"

I buy and sell on craigslist all the time. It's most definitely a scam. Never give out any personal info.

Sometimes doing a google search on their email address will yield some info on the buyer.

Respond to the email by requesting that he himself pick up the item from a neutral location and request "CASH ONLY".... He'll run...

Just my 2 pennies...

reply asking for bank account information as you prefer to do a direct debit. also you need their full name address and SSN for tax purposes, you are supposed to report this stuff, you know. also find out where their kids go to school just for safe keeping

At one time Craigslist was a great marketplace. However, with all the rss feeds, subscriptions, auto-responders it's a heaven for scam artists.

Anything other then Cash FTF is to be avoided at all costs.

You have been warned!

Knowing it's a scam, I'd have a little fun with this guy. Email back that you are really interested, but are a little tied up with an upcoming Hemmorhoid surgery. Just keep stringing him along and come up with wacky exceuses. See where it goes, and report back to us here.
