My wife stopped a carjacker today

In Kingsport.

While she was stopped at an offramp stoplight, a guy (mid thirties, dirty, backpack) approached the car. Ignored 3 verbal commands to stop. When he put his hand on the car door she put her .38 in his face. He left abruptly.

She's pretty happy now about learning to shoot, and getting her carry permit.

I like a good happy ending. Good thing she didn't have to paint the road with his brain.

Did she contact the police? I would hate for this guy to call and say there was a crazy woman with a gun! And you know that he would say he was just asking for some money or directions.

That's awesome. Glad she's ok, and had the SA t be ready to draw.

Wow. Good to hear that she is alright, and also good to hear that she did not have to shoot anyone. If there is ever anything that can drive home the utility of a handgun carry permit, that is pretty much it.

I will second the whole 'calling the police' thing, though... Seems stupid, I admit, but necessary these days.

After she got through the red light, she pulled into a parking lot and called me (not the police....). She got my voicemail. I didn't get her message for another hour or so. She didn't even think about calling the police. She will, if there is a next time. (we had a little chat about it).

By the way, she said she felt very calm during, and very shaken/scared afterwards. He crossed a two lane offramp, and in response to her commands to stop he continued to advance and said he "just wanted to ask a question". I have a feeling that he got an answer to his question when he put his hand on the door handle, though.

Was that at the I26N/11W off ramp? Wednesday morning I was waiting at the light around 7:20 and there was a guy that meets that description with a piece of cardboard that said would work for food standing there. I was on my motorcycle and within about 10 feet of him.

I've seen a guy there also, but, the one I have seen is older and without a backpack....this town is getting worse for this kind of :)....starting to irritate me........grrrrrrr

Mark@Sea,

1st and formost, I am happy that your wife is safe and had the training to react as she did

2nd PLEASE report this, whether emails, drawings, hand puppets, songs etc, this is exactly what the public needs to here about in order to combat the anti gun rhetoric.

Hug your wife tonight and tell her a old fart in Seymour is proud of her

Wish I could hug her, but I'm in Charleston at the naval weapons station....

Location was the Lynn Garden/11W offramp.

Who would I report it to besides you guys? Too late for the police to care.

Good luck, Rightwinger, it took me a while (about two years, I guess) to convince Sue to carry.

+1...the cops around here don't give a rat's ass about stuff like this....all they would say is "well, we'll patrol there more often, thank you, bye"

Way to go Ms @ Sea! I am proud she kept her kool and handled herself in the exact manner she did. BTW, a call to the police may help out the next person. They may not be a HCP holder and it could turn out much different.

:hat: to Mrs. Mark@Sea! I think she did just fine & handled it just fine. And got a good reality check in the process that she needs to get a carry permit.

Outstanding! It wasn't one of those model 10's or 64's was it?

I'm glad she's okay, Mark. Mrs. Sea is one Lady who knows how to defend herself, at various different ranges. Has tower heard about it? He might need a leash. :D I wonder if that guy is still in Kingsport or if he's still running. Hope he has an extra pair of underwear in that backpack. When you get home we'll have to paint a caricature of a homeless person on her car's fuselage. ;) Mrs. Sea is one mucho malo senora I wouldn't want to mess with. The Annie Oakley of the 21st century, IMO.
