My Opinions About Money

I consider that saving, personally.

Not even close to the same thing. Buying another compound miter saw isn't saving jack, but, it is investing in a carpentry business. Buying 100 shares of JP Morgan isn't saving; it's betting the the CEO has is head in the game and increases the worth of the company.

Ah, when you said investing I was thinking stock market type stuff, mutual funds, etc. Buying tools/ stuff for a business would be spending, but not frivolous spending.

I can't say much about buying single stocks, as I don't own any. I do have some mutual funds, though. I consider that saving, because the odds of the value increasing over the long term are better than the odds of them decreasing. While it isn't the strategy for everyone, it works well enough for me.

Then there are franchise fees (McD's, Subway, etc), lic, lawyers, CPA's, advertising, educating employees, educating yourself, there are so many ways to invest your money for a return it is a shame more people aren't going it.

I've already earned multiple nights at Hilton hotels by purchasing $1 coins through the US Mint (free shipping and they take CCs), depositing them in my bank account and transferring that money to my Hilton Amex to pay off my initial purchase. Rinse and repeat...:D

So, yes, credit cards can also help you make money or get free rooms/perks.
