Met a guy this morning who offered me a good deal on a Astra Terminator chambered in .44 magnum? The barrel is ported and gun comes with pachmayer grips. Also comes with 150 rounds of ammo.

Never shot one before and need a little info/opinions. Will be my first revolver.

Getting it at a steal. Just wanting to know about recoil, quality oft the gun, ????.

The recoil with full power .44 mag loads is a bit stiff, that is the first .44 mag that I ever shot. In my opinion they are excellent revolvers and I would not hesitate to own one.

Thanks for th info. Just didn't know, I was thinking. (44mag + 2 1/2 in barrel = One hell of a handful) You might have just convinced me to get it.

I have a Smith and Wesson 629 Carry Comp, it has a 3 inch barrel, the ported barrel helps a great deal, as with the Terminator, I think you will have fun with it. However if you do buy it and decide that you do not want it, let me know and I will buy it from you

theres not been a single one on gunbroker in quite awhile...no current or completed listings. Make sure you post up pics of her when you get it. Anytime you can get a good deal on a .44mag you should jump on it...they are typically easy to resell.

If it's too much to shoot Mags in, just use specials. Easy as pie.

These are pictures of the Astra Terminator I picked up.

Actually came with box, origional paperwork and a cleaning cloth to keep the blueing blue, and not all "fondeled" up. And close to 200 Alabama Ammo JHP .44 magnum rounds. (197 to be exact)

Need to replace the pic on wiki with yours. The wiki one is all rusted up and crappy looking. Yours looks very nice.

Astras in there day were fine weapons, but as with any company slipping into bankruptcy their last years were hit or miss on quality. Buy it right, enjoy it, if it shoots well: All the better. If it breaks, be prepared to throw it away. A good price falls within those margins.

I used to own a stainless one of those back in the 80's.It was an allright gun but after comparing it to a Smith 629 the top strap looked too thin to me so I traded it off.
