Went to that range a few weeks ago on vaca great bunch of guys. They did a lil gunsmithing on my friends revolver for him free. As far as a place to stay there are a bunch of cheap motels up the strip.

thats funny right there. All hotels are skeevy, DNA infested, gross me out places.

Especially ones in PF that see new people doing God knows what on the bed on a daily basis.

First rule of hotel rooms is to grab the comforter by the corner and pull it off the bed onto the floor. Push it with you shoe covered foot into a corner never to be touched again. Immediately wash hands. Don't use the phone and touch the remote control as little as possible, ideally with a plastic bag around it. YUCK I hate hotel rooms.

That said just about any decent place in PF will cost 50 to 100 bucks depending on newness of the facility and ammenities.

For enterntainment I recommend riding go karts.

I love Townsend!

To me it totally worth the extra few minutes from PF!

Plus its a beautiful drive across the mountains

if you have never been to the park before it is worth the few hours it takes to cross over Newfound Gap on Rt 441 and go down to Cherokee NC.

The drive alone makes it very worthwhile. If you have never done it you really need to do so. Even if you only have a two or three hours you can go to Klingmans Dome and back by car.

Townsend is nice, a whole lot quieter than staying up in sevierville/pf/gatlinburg too. If you pick that, eat at the little restaurant across the street, great people!
