During today's Senate hearing with Judge Sototmayor, the learned judge stated her opinion on the rights of the public to protect themselves.

Coburn vs. Sotomayor - Yahoo! News

Of course, there was no bias at all in the reportage. :chill:

She and AJ Eric Holder will try to wipe out the second amendment rights. She'll be confirmed easily. Too many Republicans Senators also want her in for who knows what reason. Big media loves her almost as much as o.

I think we should be viglilant, but unless the Democrats have an absolute political death wish, they will not go crazy on gun issues. Bill Clinton learned a hard lesson there and although many may vote the Democratic ticket (there was a time not that long ago that in many areas of TN you couldn't find a Republican), if the party gets into personal issues too deeply like guns, they will be rejected by voters.

But again, we do have to watch the politicians of all parties like hawks (look at Alexander; a Republican, but he is as wiggly/bend with the wind as they come, imo).

"If there's a threat of serious injury you can use force. How imminent is the threat? If the threat is in this room and I go home get a gun and come back and shoot you, that may not be legal under New York law."

Her statement is a very odd statement. I suppose it's an avoidence of the question.

"If there's a threat of serious injury you can use force. How imminent is the threat?"

Ok, I'll by that. I believe if you are threatened disparity of foce should be on your side. That has to be somewhere in the "Art of War"

"If the threat is in this room and I go home get a gun"

Ok she doesn't pack, sounds like she may own a gun. Probably does.

"and come back and shoot you, that may not be legal under New York law"

That's just wierd or she is misquoted, or there is something I don't get. She shoots Senator Coburn? She never said he was the threat. It's just in the room. Never said if it was still there? Is she side stepping everything like this? I will assume that she is smarter than to make a statement like this by accident. I also believe she was expecting a question like this and had prepared for it. Hummm.
