How do Wolf primers measure up with use in an AR style rifle? Are they considered to be "hard"? Any risk of slam fires, like Federal primer?
From everything I've heard Wolf primers have a reputation for being on the harder side.

They make "Magnum" SR primers, supposedly specifically for 5.56 ARs. I ordered 5K of them today, plus 15K SP.

For 223 AR's use the Mag SR Wolf primers.

I have been using the Wolf primers for a while. They are very good primers SD's are very good. The only problem with them I have noticed is you have to pay special attention when you seat them. The anvil seems to sit just a little higher in the cup that other primers. When you seat the primer, I use a Lee hand primer, you can feel the anvil hit the bottom of the pocket then you need to put a little more pressure on until you feel the cup bottom out. I don't know if I did not get two primers seated properly with the cup flush with the bottom of the pocket or what. I had two fail to fire rounds, my first in over 30 years of hand loading, when I first started using Wolf primers. I was using them in a Ruger 77 rifle and these rifles do have a reputation that over time their firing pin springs get weak and will fail to set off some primers. I have not had any problems with CCI BR's in this rifle. Just a heads up on this problem because I have read of others having the ocasional fail to fire or hang fire with Wolf primers. I would give them a good testing before I loaded my hunting ammo with them. I would hate to have the BIG ONE step out and all you hear is KLICK.
