to shooting lighter weight snubs, and the less the weight the more felt recoil is a proper (almost death) grip.

Here is Jerry Miculek showing proper form:

It must be very tightly held.

I have 3 J frames and enjoy the challenge.

Try some 3 five drills. 5 rounds, 5 feet, 5 seconds.

Thanks for the tip. I've been gripping hard but not wrapping the thumb. I'm gonna try what you've suggested and I think it will really help.

That grip will provide multi-axis control. Keep practicing, it will become second nature and you will develop "muscle memory". Do grip exercise for strengthening and a lot of dry firing (which is ok to do, per S&W).

I take it nobody wants to shoot a box of +P's through my 342? I never knew the alloy's were so hard on the shooters.

20 +P rds thru my 342ti and I feel like I've been catching fastballs barehanded :D

My philosophy is this: Snubbies aren't for fun, they are for saving your life. I hate shooting mine and only shoot enough to be proficient but it sure is nice just to stick it in my pocket and go about my day and not worry about other issues associated with carrying on the hip. Plus they pack a bit more wallop than some of the other pocket pea-shooters.
+1, perfectly stated!
