Color me dumb, but what defines trigger pull weight on a 1911? The sear spring? I just changed out the trigger on my USGI 1911a1 to an original. The trigger pull seems to have gotten heavier...
Is the trigger bow or perhaps the trigger itself binding somewhere? Is the trigger bow bent or misaligned with the trigger? If you only changed the trigger and not the sear, disconnector, and/or sear spring there shouldn't really be any difference in trigger pull. Does the trigger reset itself normally, or is there some amount of resistance to reset? In other words, does there seem to be any resistance of the trigger against the sear spring when the trigger is pulled and released(it's best to check this dry)?In my experience(and I'm not a professional gunsmith)it is often necessary to file either the top or bottom, or both(and possibly even the sides) on a 1911 trigger to get it aligned correctly, and to prevent the trigger from contacting the frame at the top or bottom of the trigger guard and forcing the bow to bind somewhere.
