Carry in Parks - What a Crock!

I wish there was some clause that would allow you to leave your gun in the vehicle in a post office parking lot when getting your mail.

Seriously, do you really worry about that?

Well technically you can get busted for it even if the odds are low.

Or just have the COP set up more speed traps. :)

I think Fallguy being from Milan would know about speed traps already. Man Milan doesn't play, Medina is worse though

I've got a good friend who's a cop in Milan, I'll have to ask him about that. :)

I hardly go out as. I don't shop at the Mall here if at all possible. I need to look and see if the movie theater here is posted. The last time I was at Jackson 10 Cinema i didn't notice but I didnt look too hard. I try not to go to Hollywood because thats where everyone goes and I want to see the movie not everyone talking.

The only place I can think of as far as seeing the slash gun is the Waffle House and even then that's been a few years

Hollywood 16 is not posted anywhere that I've noticed. Go early on a weekday if you can...not nearly as many people :D

I don't go to Old Hickory Mall either...

Yep....they are serious. Got stopped on the bike once, thankfully since it was the first ticket in over 15 years judge dismissed it.

Great that's good to know. I try to go to matinees when I do go. I will admit I wanna see GI Joe :D

Come from Jackson to Milan, they drop the speed limit waaaaay down and they drop it off a ways out also

Trezevant was bad also until a few years ago. They probably don't have the money to chase anyone after that guy chased someone all the way to jackson and a crash resulted .

The way this has played out is very much a crock.

Last night, the five Republican aldermen of Germantown voted unanimously to ban carry in Germantown Parks. And, at least one of these is a Handgun Carry Permit holder.

Once the Police chief reported that there had only been one assault in Germantown parks in the past two years, it seemed like the whole issue turned. I fully expected to see a 3-2 vote one way or the other.

A friend of mine said that votes like this are done out of fear of something going wrong, and then the local reporters hounding the Aldermen as to why they didn't see the consequences of the vote.

I wonder how many rapes or murders will need to take place in Germantown before the Aldermen reconsider?

And that logic doesn't even come in to play re: Memphis and their decision making.

Here's to going back to pre-emption.

Well, it was illegal to carry in ANY city/county park/rec area before.

Just doesn't look like we gained much, plus now will likely be extra scrutiny, and the "gray" verbiage of the "prohibited weapons" clarified (I guess).

First the City of Memphis voted to ban the carry in parks, then Shelby County followed and banned the carry too. So this whole area got shafted.

I don't know how it is in Memphis/Germantown but that's one reason I'm all for term limits. Knuckleheads scared of getting kicked out of office.

Even though I'm in Jackson and we're so far going to be allowed to carry in our parks. I wish this bill didn't get passed with the opt out law

Well it's nice for me to enjoy a drive through Montgomery Bell State Park now so in that sense I'm glad it passed. We just need to work on our local politicians now to change their opinion, or fire them.

Yea we got screwed. I am glad I have state parks for when I go camping, but I'm still pissed that I can't carry in Shelby Farms. Not that I go there alot, but it still aggravates me for the people that do.

A small advantage is that we'll have the local politicians on record for the next election.
