Out Of State Gun Shops

I've always wondered if one can purchase a gun out of state. Say for instance I went to Bud's Gun Shop up in KY can I buy one there and bring it back here to TN?

Long gun yes, handgun no. Handguns cannot be transferred to a resident of a different state than that of the shop. They would have to ship it to a FFL in TN for you to pick up.

You'll find that it is certainly not worth the trip unless you are headed to Lexington for other reasons. Bud's shipping rates are quite fair. That goes for long guns or handguns.

With a long gun, I might make the trip if I'm looking for good wood. I don't know how accomadating they are about digging stuff out.

Check out Whittaker's Guns in Owensboro KY for something closer (google their website). They have the best prices around and have a huge stock. They say something like 6000 guns in stock and I believe it. I have bought three guns from them and had them shipped and get them the next day as long as they get your FFL dealers info the same day. I have also been to the store in person. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Nashville.

Been there, and it's pretty impressive. Moreso if you're into long-guns. They had a decent handgun selection, but nothing even close to the number of rifles and shotguns.

That being said, I'm still a fan of Bud's Gun Shop.
