Hello TGO, I'm a newbee to this site and to hand guns, I bought my first hand gun last week a 38 special mainly because of the price and took it to the indoor range in Gallatin on Friday, my friend is a ex highway patrollman and gave me a bunch of safety/shooting pointers and finally I found some ammo for sale. I got to tell you I really thought shooting a hand gun would be easy but sadlly I was mistaken!!!! I'm just happy I was the only person shooting that day so I wasnt made fun of LOL. So I have a lot to learn and have been doing a lot of reading here and on the internet and I'm also purchasing a 2nd gun on Friday, a Ruger P345, looks to have a lot of safetys for beginners like myself and will be practicing hard for a few weeks before I go for my carry permit. This is a great site with lots of helpfull info, just wish I had more time to read everything... COOP

Welcome!

Nevermind what anyone else thinks of your shooting. We were all there once ourselves!

Lots of good info and great people here. Take the time to read as much as you can!

First off, welcome to TGO and congrats on your first handgun. First because I doubt you'll be able to keep it to one! :usa: I wouldn't worry about being made fun of at the range, teased by friends, yes, but I've always seen people wanting to help other shooters. Get to one of the regional shoots and meet fellow TGO'ers as well as get some more great pointers! Welcome again to the forums!

Welcome to TGO!

As for finding ammo, there's a place just down the road from you that usually has .38 Special. Take I-40 to exit 226, and go north, away from the Providence area. Just past the gas station (a BP, I think) on the right is a white building that kind of looks like a house. There's a gun store there called The Reloader's Bench. They usually have about any kind of ammunition you may need.

Thanx all, safety is my priority first off, learning my gun/guns (SUNTZU, I ALREADY GOT THE ITCH FOR MORE GUNS) and there operations, cleaning and so on, next will be how to safely, properly and accurately shoot my gun's is next, I heard there is a gun show this weekend at the fairgrounds and never been to one so while my son has a 3 hour hockey practice at centenial I think I'll go check it out and maybe trade or upgrade my 38 special, the first time I shot it in the front yard last week my ears rang for 10 mins!!! (NEWBEE) now I have eye and ear protection!!!! That gun is really loud and heavy and just to big to carry. 56fordguy, thanks for the info on ammo, I had no idea there was a gun store there, I been paying a fortune for ammo like $30 a box of fifty and got lucky at walmart sunday on 1 box of 100 for the same price but will try the gun shop for 45acp this weekend!!! Thanks again ALL!!!! COOP

Nothing wrong with a .38 Special, lots of folks carry them every day. The Reloader's Bench is a pretty nice place, while you're in Nashville you may also want to check out Guns For America. They're off of Powell Avenue, near the 100 Oaks Mall. Small place, but really nice people.
