UPS delivery problem question

I got notice today that my AR will be in Thursday, as in tomorrow. Problem is that there has to be someone to sign for it. Problem is, I'm about 8 hours away in Orange Beach, AL. What will my options be? Will I be able to go pick it up? I have gone to pick up things in the past for FedEx, but never really had to for UPS.

I've been through the same situation with FedEx and just called the 1-800 number and had them hold my stuff at the local terminal. Sure lessens the havoc and explaining at home! :D

I assume UPS would do the same but really don't know. Just give'm a call.

Yea you can go pick it up. Call UPS tell them the situation and request they hold the package at their station on Swinnea. Tell them you'll pick it up when you get back.

Is that over by Millbranch and 240?

After they make a delivery attempt they post an exception on the tracking page, and from there you can tell them what to do, there is an option for them to hold it so you can pick it up from the package center. However I think you might need your Info Notice number for it (the number on the sticker they stick to your door when they attempt a delivery, which of course you wont have).

If you don't tell them to hold it...they will ship it back to the place you bought it from. They try 3 separate times to deliver and on the third, they will ship it back.

Not true, unless the shipper specifies this on their account. After the 3rd attempt it is held for a week at the hub...then shipped back.

I have a tracking number that the left for me via the voice mail notification. I will call them Thursday and tell them to hold it for pick up.

Airport eh, I might need to assemble in parking lot for protection....

I don't think it will be held near the airport. UPS has a "hub" in bartlett, near the sams club, that will probably be where your package will be held.

I had to go there to get my Survival rifle when Henry shipped it back. Didn't know it was coming until I got the delivery attempt. Called the number on the tag, then went to the hub and picked it up. Just make sure you bring your delivery attempt tag and ID, otherwise you'll go home with nothing.

And I was glad I picked up my rifle. The packaging was plain as day that it included a rifle.

There are three hubs in Shelby County. Bartlett (behind Sam's), Memphis, on Carrier (240 & Millbranch), and Oakhaven (Winchester & Swinnea). Depending on your zip code, it could be delivered out of any of these hubs. You can call UPS with either your tracking number (on the package) or an Infonotice number (after the first attempt) and tell them what to do with it. Otherwise, they will make three attempts in a row, then send it back to the shipper immediately ONLY IF it is a ground delivery with no signature required. Anything else gets held for five business days before being returned. If you got a robot message from UPS, then it's signature required. You can call 1-800-PICKUPS and tell them to hold it, redirect it to your parents, your work, wherever, UNLESS it is ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED (which is usually used only for guns and booze). In that case, it cannot be redirected, but can be held for will call. PM me the tracking number and I can tell you if it's sig req, and what hub it will be coming out of.

Picked it up today at the Carrier location. I admit that I pulled out onto Carrier, pulled over, and opened it up, just to look at it...
