A matter of preference? XD vs XDM, 9mm vs .40

I have an XD-M 9mm... and have owned several 'regular' XDs (including a 9mm Tactical, which would be the most comparable). I prefer the way the XD-M shoots, and the accuracy is somewhat better, the stock trigger is noticably better, the capacity is awesome, but I don't like the grip as much.

As far as the XD-M vs. Glock thing goes... I have a G19, there is no question (in my mind) that the XD-M is more precisely built, and is a smoother shooter. Not even in the same league. I would say the same about the XD-M vs. XD comparison... so I'd be more inclined to compare the 'regular' XD to the Glock any day and call it a tossup.

I Iave a glock and an xd9. Science of the glock is better. The difference between 9mm and .40 is a little more muzzle flip on the .40. The main difference would be you practicing a lot to be comfortable. These are both very controllable. XD's are used by law enforcement all over the country so rest easy. You are not wasting your money either way. I am accurate shooting my XD9. My gun is consistant with my accuracy.

I have:

Glock 27 (40) With 9m extra barrel so I can practice with cheap ammo,

XD 9 Sub Compact

XDM 40

XD45

Love them all, All shoot great, won't sell any ;)

You can't go wrong with any of them:koolaid:

Man this is a great thread! But every time I think I'm getting a handle on it things veer in different direction!

I ride motorcycles so the analagy seems right. You can't go wrong buying a modern sport bike. They're all great bikes, do everything well and it comes down to the skill of the rider.

So it seems that all of these guns under discussion are very good, but since I am still learning it would appear:

the 9mm is better when ammo cost is an issue because the ammo is cheaper therefore allows more practice time??

I will need to do a lot of practicing to develop my skills so I should go with cheaper ammo and then maybe upgrade? Although this seems nice:

Glock 27 (40) With 9m extra barrel so I can practice with cheap ammo,

Best of both worlds?? :koolaid:

I'm not worried about concealing so much as a good all around gun.

My main issue is comfort. I'm big with big hands so I need a gun with a comfortable grip.

After watching 'Collateral' double taps seem to be the way to go. I guess I'll find out when I actually start shooting! :D

OK......I am no pro or gun expert but I can give you real world results........(please see my posted thread of the XD sub-compact vs. G26. I have updated the thread with some more results from the range just tonight. I can also add that a 3rd friend brought his XD sub-compact 40 and I shot it. I seemed to not be as accurate (although when you are shooting against someone you may not try as hard with their gun.....haha.....judt kidding), had more recoil and the ammo costs more. My pick is the XD sub-compact in the 9mm.................shoots as good as my XDM 9mm at 7 yards..........if I only shot at 7 yards I would not keep the XDM. Good luck!
