i am wondering why it is that michael jackson is getting every tv network to air his memorial service. there are more important things to discuss, such as soldiers, marines etc getting killed while fighting overseas. i know that i am not the only one that is :censored:ing upset about that.

if you disagree with me.. feel free to share your opinion about it. but its just irritating me is all.

Pedophiles are more important than heroes, dontcha know?

The difference is that our government won't allow us to televise the casualties coming back or memorial services for our soldiers.

Celebrity deaths, especially ones that involve larger than life or off the wall celebrities will always be news. Ann Nicole Smith was a perfect example. It's a business. You gotta give the customers what they want!

Because BHO is large and in charge now. The war is all OK. If "W" was still in they would be interupting the funeral to tell you about more soldiers that GWB killed.

they wouldnt have to televise it, i'm just saying that they should be mentioned. they deserve that much dont you think? my opinion, they deserve more than mj.. but thats me

I understand what you're saying, but how many ways can you tell the same story? Everyone knows whats going on overseas, and after six years it's old news. Plus, the war(s) no longer bring the ratings they're looking for.

One must celebrate the accomplishments of Obama supporters.

that is another thing.. tv networks have their priorities all backwards.

Who is Michael Jackson? ................Seriously, IMO, he was cute as a member of the Jackson Five and went down from there. The media are trying to make him a hero. :)

What we are seeing is typical of what the government run press and folks want. Most of the population would rather be entertained than give serious thought to what is good for the nation, what made the nation great and how the once great nation is being destroyed.

I got into one of the biggest arguments last night and literally no longer talk to a friend of mine over this subject. Big part of that was because they decided to take a cheap shot at me because of my medical discharge from the Army. Anyway...

I said I couldn't remember the last time CNN had wall-to-wall coverage of a medal of honor receipient and the response I got was "It is a matter of importance. What have they done for people for the last 40 years?"

Suffice to say I was too stunned to carry on the debate. This is what is wrong with our country, idolization of celebrity over our true heroes.

It's all about filling airtime on the 900 channels of nothing that we have available to us. They got hours of free programming.

And in case you haven't noticed there isn't any news any longer. It's pretty much all tabloid crap that's spit out 24/7/365.

It's apparently what most of the sheeple want. Everybody has a pill for something and the last thing they want is a little reality creeping in to wake them up. We don't want to know what's going on. We're perfectly happy with our celebrities and endless sports extravaganzas to keep us distracted.

Punisher, that truly was an ignorant thing your friend said. I'm sorry he said it, because nobody likes to lose a friend. Hopefully someday he'll see the err of that statement and come around.
