The Gathering Storm

From Military Aviator, Naval Commander Jerry Wilson, jerrywilson@centurytel.net

When the storm finally hits (and it will), those of you who supported the Obama administration will be affected as well. It won’t just be us gun owners or Flat Taxers, or Pro-Lifers that get hit. You’ll be right there next to us.

You see, you all thought the Conservatives were nut cases. You know, all of us who believe in God, small government, the Second Amendment, etc. And you thought you could just go back to sleep after the election was over. In your world, America will continue as before. You’ll still have the same rights, the same nice house, the same big screen television – it’s all good. After all, your high school football team won and the other team lost – go team! Even if you have bothered to look up from the daily grind since Nov 4th, you dismissed everything that has occurred as “politics as usual†– “the same old stuffâ€.

In the end, it’ll all be OK won’t it?

Not this time. There are a growing number of citizens in the US that are ready to fight to shut down the government’s grab of personal freedom, it’s blatant abuse of the constitution, and it’s attempt to replace the American way of life with socialism. You have to listen carefully to hear them, but they are there. I won’t start that fight, but when it goes down I will join it.

As for you, why… you’ll be shocked because you didn’t see it coming. And eventually you’ll be saddened when you see that we have truly lost the way of life with which you grew up. You’ll be saddened that your children and grandchildren live in a socialist, government-controlled gulag where their every movement from cradle to grave is tracked by the government. But most of all, you’ll be saddened by the death of friends and relatives who are brave enough to fight and die for something they believe in.

You know, McCain wasn’t much of a candidate. I’ll give you that. He was the lesser of two evils for most of us. I don’t blame you for not voting for him since, at the time, you didn’t know what we all know now. But at least John McCain was an American. He was a supporter of the American way of life and he understood that you can’t negotiate with terrorists. He understood and appreciated the sacrifice made by my father and other members of the Greatest Generation.

Mark my words friends. All across America groups are forming. They are forming out of anger and out of desperation at the thought of losing America. They’re not militia groups, terrorists as the Department of Homeland security would have you believe; they are Americans, loyal to the constitution. They are mothers and fathers and grandparents. They belong to groups like the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, the Peaceful Resistance, the Constitution Party, the Young Conservatives, the 9/12 Project, and Grassfire. Right now they are fragmented, each focused on their own cause. But sometime in the next two years, our government is going to do something really stupid and these groups will come together. Watch for it, wait for it…get ready. It will happen.

When that event happens, whatever “it†is, our great country is going to plunge into chaos for a while. I pray to God that we make it through that time and emerge a stronger, smarter country.

Jerry Wilson

I don't buy it. I don't buy that these groups will mobilize against the direction that our nation seems to be taking when so many of them won't get off their lazy asses and vote, or at the very least won't vote against candidates that continue pushing us toward Socialism.

It is an almost weekly occurrence now that I will meet someone who tells me that they just recently bought their first firearm because they are afraid that the Obama Administration is going to make it impossible to do that sooner or later. It's also alarmingly frequent that these people voted for Obama.

So, yeah, I don't buy it. Americans have gotten too lazy to even mobilize peacefully.

April 19,

Scores Killed, Hundreds Injured as Para-Military Extremists Riot in Boston Area

National guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed on April 19th by elements of a paramilitary extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement. Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group's organizers as "criminals," issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government's efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed widespread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault

weapons. Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms. One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out "none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily."

Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government's plans. During a tense standoff in Lexington 's town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists.

Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange. Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces overmatched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat.

Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor has also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops. Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as "ringleaders" of the extremist faction, remain at large.

Dont ever forget, 234 Years Ago -- Our Nation Began.

This could very well happen again.

July 4th the History Channel ran a series on the Revoutionary War and the events leading up to it. While watching a few episodes, my wife and I both commented on how many parallels there were to the way things are today.

David...I have to disagree with you a "little"...these groups ARE out there...they were/are motivated...to LATE for this go round..IMHO...I do agree with you on the fat lazy arse part...I would even venture to say that some are active on this forum.

Personally...I've attended a couple of these "meetings" nothing to get to excited about...its a LOT of TALK...and some action, but at this point there is no move to ARM UP and march against the MAN

The problem they will have is the media portraying them as run of the mill criminals, not patriots. Serpas will be on TV calling them "cowards". They will be referred to as terrorists, extremists if done as groups and just as nut cases if acting individually.

The sheep will just eat this stuff up and will feign outrage in their comments in the Tennessean, that they saw this coming all along as soon as we were allowed to carry in restaurants. Carrying on the walking path in the park was the road to hell.

Believe it when I see it.

Oh, I am sure there are folks out there who will talk up a storm. And I am sure there are some folks out there who might actually do something at some point. But until that movement is organized, consolidated, and given a specific goal, you might as well have 20 people individually trying to climb a greased monument.

Good reads, and reasonings from both sides (not the Left, but the "It will" and "It won't" happen, sides).

Sadly, I can say that I'm NOT ready, should something happen. But, at least I have friends that are, and more importantly, I will offer support to stop injustice in our Government. There is a reason for peoples' concerns, and they are very valid.

Keep in mind that while I don't mind the OP posting a link to the story, we in no way advocate any sort of secessionist nonsense. In fact, I've spoke out against that sort of thing here in the past and we still have a zero tolerance policy regarding it.

If this thread takes a turn toward that, it's done.

No one is advocating the overthrow of the world or anything, but there are severe problems and they seem to be getting worse. When the socialist health care plan is passed (and it will pass) along with crap and trade, we are on the down hill side. We can only hope more people will get out and vote in the next election and right the ship before it all goes down, or before our weakness is tested by another country.:)

I'm not advocating anything, fwiw, nor am I trying to create a straw-man argument here by placing words in your mouth, but if - IF - things got completely out of whack wrt the US Constitution and our freedoms were disappearing right and left, would you not be willing to fight to protect your rights? Or are you simply saying you are unwilling to discuss that here?

Again, not trying to step on toes here, and if you don't even want to talk about that possibility I'm (obviously) going to be fine with it as you are gracious enough to allow us to hang here in your 'living room' - just curious.

What he is saying is that an open internet is not the place for this type of discussion. If you want to have this type of discussion take it to a private venue.

My wife and I had a discussion the other night, and she said she was concerned that I would post my thoughts on the internet for others to read. I tried to explain to her that what I was posting was not extreme, and then we started down the road that most, if not all is being read by other with nefarious designs. No tin foil hat stuff, just a discussion. I then told her that when I made an oath at age 17 to support, defend, and protect the constitution of the United States of America I didn't recall an expiration date. End of discussion.
