Advice on 45 carry

I currently have a H&K USP compact 40 but been thinking about upgrading to a 45 carry. Got my sights set on the SIG 220 carry elite, always been a fan of SIG. But also open to any personal experience or personal preferences for a good 45 carry.

I realize that there may already be posts out there but and besides I keep getting reminders from TGO that I have not posted in awhile haha.

Also something that takes an internal laser light ie.... crimson trace or laser max. I need to preserve the profile of the gun so it will still fit in the holster. I have looked and no one makes it for my H&K.

Hard to beat the pistol the cartridge was designed for, the 1911. One of my carry guns is a Commander size 1911. Again, hard to beat.

There are several good options out there for what you'd spend on a P220. And yes, you can put CT grips on them.

The 1911's are great i carry one somtimes but most of the time i carry a glock 30 or my 36. i love both of them and my 36 has an internal laser.

Amen. If you prefer DA, the PARA LDA CCO is a great option for concealed, also.

Ialso vote for the glock in either or the g30 or the g21. Both are an excellent value and will accept the lasermax or crimson trace. Just my .02

when I get to TN my CCW would be a SA MicroCompact 1911. they are so easy to conceal. I believe 1911 make some of the better concealment weapons, due to their naturally narrow profile.

Either the XD45 or the XD45 compact. Smaller/lighter than the commander 1911's, only slightly thicker, and holds 11 (14 with the full size mag) 45's.

If you are good you can hide anything.

My EDC is an HK USP 45 fullsize. And the only people that even know I'm carrying it are people that know me well.

So that Sig 220 Carry shouldn't be too hard to hide, or you can get the HK USP Compact 45 or as others have said the 45C. Both are quite easy to hide.

Thanks for all the input guys, No I have not looked at the H&K 45c yet, looks like I will also have to take another look at the 1911 commander and do some research on the CBOB which I am not even sure what that is, .... Dontcha love google.

I have a Ruger P90, keep the damn laughter down, and I dig it. It does get heavy after about 4 or 5 hours. I bought this sweet little holster from Comp-Tac, IWB. I have worn my P90 with beach shorts(drawstring, no belt) and a long t-shirt while doing yard work, and it was fine...but again, a little heavy.

BIG +1 thats what i carry everyday. Conceals well with a good IWB holster (I use a Comptac Holster) and the bobtail not only disguises the profile but also makes it fit much better in your hand. The fact you can weak hand limp wrist the gun and it wont jam doesnt hurt either. If you do plan on carrying it everyday I would highly recommend buying a used one so you wont feel as bad when you "rough it up".

I'm very pleased with my M&P fullsize 45 and with this SuperTuck holster it hides the gun very nicely with just a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. Just don't get an ambidexterous safety if you want to put a Crimson Trace laser on it.

Kinda new to the 1911's, been talking to some other friends of mine and they indicated that the 1911 were pron to jamming in the feed ramps, anyone have similar problems? I have looked at the dan wesson CBOB and the commander, both very good looking guns but guess I will have to fire a couple first, see how I like them.

Once again thanks for the input guys.

1911's before say 1980ish had issues with JHP ammo. Current 1911's (like every other model made) work IF one buys a reputable brand.

As for carrying a 1911, they aren't exactly non-dedicated user friendly. The XD45 4" has the pointability of the Commander size 1911 with a much simpler manual of arms and 14 rounds vs 9 rounds on board. Not to mention less maintence.
