We live in an apartment and this year I mentioned I'd like a garden. My girlfriend is pretty darn good with flowers and likes them. She didn't want to give up her flower space on our patio so she asked our neighbor if we could use his (for the last 4 years it has been nothing but weeds).

We weeded and got it ready. She pretty much has taken over an ran with it. I think she has done pretty well.

We have

6 tomato plants

3 cucumber plants

3 squash

3 cantalope she just planted today (dunno the last one died)

1 jalapeno pepper plant

Several onion plants

In her flower garden we have two cabbage plants that the bugs are getting a little bit and some broccoli that bugs are tearing up bad (no picture they are terrible looking)

Jst thought I'd share. I'm sure some of you have farms and no telling what. Food is going up I think.

Anyone else want to share what they are growing?

The rabbit is 18 years old and I have kept him through 2 divorces. He's looking rough but I think it's the coolest thing.

I haven't taken any pictures yet, but I helped my brother and his wife put in a large garden. We have 76 various tomato plants, several types of beans, corn, squash, and a large variety of herbs. We alreay have some beans that are being picked and ready to can. I'm looking forward to having fresh veggies.

We planted a 10'x20' garden this year. So far my wife has canned 20 pints of green beans, frozen a boat load of cabbage and the tomatoes are just starting to come in. Our collard greens got demolished by bugs and the zucchini croaked(thankfully!).

12 cabbages are to much for 3 people to use!

Just today I put the shovel in the ground to see how the taters were doing and we got taters!! This is my first time trying them and won't be the last. We also are getting some big maters, white onions, picked beans 3 times already and banana peppers out the wazoo. Cucumbers are just now starting to grow. I planted them too close together and had to pull some so they didn't have to compete too much. This is my second year gardening and I can grow about anything you want but I don't know when to harvest somethings, but I'm learning!

I want to grow potatoes in a bucket, if I can find the link on how to do it again. Basically its two buckets, one inside the other, the inner one having a hole cut in the bottom. When its time to harvest, you pick the inner bucket up and the taters fall into the outer bucket. Sounds good to me. I'm also going to try the taters in garbage bags, as well.

I have tomato plants (orange, bradley, early girls, a purple variety, mr. stripey, some cherry, and beef steak), blue lake green beans (pole and bunch), straight neck squash, cucmbers, watermelon, and pumpkins. This is my 6th or 7th year doing a garden. I think this is my best year considering all the rain we had in the spring. If my squash will take off I will be happy.

How could you forget the romas?! They're the best!

We've got some bradleys, romas, cherries and we're also growing some squash, cantaloupe, banana peppers, green beans (pole), and some basil and rosemary. This is my first time having a hand in it, but my girlfriend has been doing it for years.

I had romas last year I guess I just forgot them this year. I forgot to mention that I have bell peppers (green, yellow, red, and orange), and habaneros. By the way Mikedwood tell the girlfriend that the garden looks good.

My sweet and bell peppers usually just do ok, but the hot ones grow great. That would be good but I dont even eat the darn things. I just grow them to watch them grow.

Guy I worked with years ago used to grow his spuds in stacks of auto tires.

He'd start out with a couple, and as the top of the plant got larger, he'd add a tire and more dirt, like that.

Think he went 6 or 7 tires high, best I remember. I was there for harvest day once, kick over the tire stacks, spuds everywhere!

I've seen the tire method, and it is very good. I want to try the bucket method. There is a almost nonexistent HOA in the new neighborhood, but I don't want to get them riled up with a bunch of tires stacked that high in the back yard.

I'd suggest an old heap up on blocks, cut roof off, fill with dirt and plant stuff in in.

I've always thought that was a pretty classy look.

I'm going to use the trunk of a Cutlass as well as removing the engine and installing a bird bath made out of a kiddie bath with waterlilies and frogs. If I get enough mosquitoes and tadpoles I'll have an entire new ecosystem to feed us both.

This was Friday nights harvest minus the squash and zucchini that had already been sliced and thrown on the grill.

Why didn't you plant some peppers and tomatoes?

I was going to plant a couple other varieties of peppers but was running too late to get more seeds started and could not find to many more varieties at the nursery's. I more or less set my garden up to can salsa. I have done that in years past with just containers on the deck but this year I expanded to about 75 square feet of raised beds in the back yard so I had room for some other stuff like the herbs, zucchini, and squash.
