bow season

Just wondering if anyone is getting a head start on bow season for whitetail? I am going to start practicing after the July 4th. I haven't hunted in four years since I've been at college, but I should remember how. If you are using a crossbow, then this probably apply to you since you probably won't need much practice. :D

I usually pick up the PSE in early August for some dusk shooting and checking all the string/wire and pulleys. This year may be problematic as my target is pretty much shot so I need to go buy a new fake deer.

Yep. I've got a tripod stand in the trees behind my house and a couple of old 3D targets that I like to shoot. I haven't shot it in a couple of months, so I need to get back on it soon.

I also want to get out sometime this summer and hunt some hogs with my bow. I think I'll combine whatever hog hunting I get to do with a little scouting for early season whitetails.

Can't wait for the season to start.

Been shooting the ol' hoyt for about a week now. Try to shoot 50 or so shoots from 10 to 60 yards every afternoon after work.

I haven't been shooting as much as I should. I used to shoot almost all year long in season and out od season.

Who ever hears when Bass Pro has that summer sale they always have post it up! I usually get something cheap from them. A few years back they had those basic ladder stands on sale for 79 bucks so I grabbed two of those, a little better Gorilla tree stand and the now shot out and dry rotted deer target.

This year I will be looking for another deer target. The only other thing on my list is maybe a Summit Titan climbing stand so I can give my old Python to one of the boys.

I gotta get a bow...

Checked on a left-handed, long-draw bow. $800 and up, bare-bones.

Sucks being a gigantor.

Sometimes.

Ouch!

and I wouldn't recommend looking at crossbows then. From what I have seen, unless your ready to spend 800 plus, they don't shoot worth a crud.

I need a new bow, too. I'm still shooting a very old Browning & aluminum arrows. Benton Shooter's Supply in East TN had some really good deals on Mathews Bows last year. I was going to get one, but I got bit by the AR bug and spent my bow money.

Look around on Craig's list and the free traders post type listings in your area. I have already decided I'll never buy a new muzzle loader and probably not a bow as people can never sell a used one for anywhere near what they paid. When they move up to a Matthew's or Knight, you can move in and get their nice servicable PSE or Frontier bow or muzzle loader. Why pay full price right?

There might even be a sasquatch bow out there for someone.

Good idea.

It's ridiculous.

In my incredible foresight however, I can predict that after I drop a minimum $1,000 on this set-up, and I'm sitting in a ground-blind in September, sweating my c.o. Jones off, swatting ticks and skeeters...

I'll be pi$$ed that I spent money for that crap.

I'll just wait til smokepoles and frost.

There's your problem! You keep hunting from the ground! Drop 80 bucks on a ladder stand and half your problems are solved and you'll see more deer too!

I shot a lot last year but my friend moved and we don't have a place for a range anymore. The old range was great. I'm really dying to shoot some.

I don't know if it is as good as the summer sale, but they are having a 4th of July sale now.

I have one and there isn't anything really personal on it. You pay for things by sending them a check, money order or the best, the USPS money order so it can be a federal offense if they cash it and don't ship!

I have never had any issues buying on Ebay, the last things I bought were those grips for the 1911.

If you really want this thing, I can "bid" it on your behalf and you can just slip me some dough or a 5406 or something.

Now the auction is up for another 7 days and the price could go up, think about it and shoot me a PM if you want to get in on this thing.

I'm changing my arrow setup so I have to buy some new arrow then I'll start shooting again. You guys need to take the "training wheels" off and come on over to the traditional side of archery. At least when you miss you have a good excuse, no sights!;)

You'll have that thing wore plum out by the seasons start!!:D

I have been shooting that much every year for the past 5 or 6 years with the same bow string. All you need to do is keep it waxed! I wax mine about every week while practicing during the summer and then once or twice during season.

I enjoy it ask Bronker bout coon hunting with it!

I jsut shoot in my back yard. I have a couple of targets set up and shoot at different yardages. Use to just use a couple of hay bales with paper targets.
