I'm just looking for a way to keep to keep up with inventory by caliber.

So I guess the parameters would be caliber, brand, number of rounds, ability to add and subtract, etc.

Maybe a good looking redhead to enter the data and keep up with it?

But seriously, I bet you could sell one if you could put a form type front end on it.

Here is a little something I have. It's on PowerPoint so I think I would have to email it to anyone who wanted to try it.

Here is what it looks like, nothing pretty, but it gets the job done.

Edit: And the Total cell automatically takes the values from the On Hand, Expended, and Purchased cells and does all the math for you.

I've been increasing my stock lately so I was thinking of coming up with an Excel spreadsheet to help me keep track...but not being an excel pro, I know it will cost me some time to do, lol. If anyone already has one to share, I'd love to see it.

I work with spread sheets daily. Excel for these purposes is very easy. An addition or subtraction formula is basiclly as simple as typing that function in the cell.

If you don't get what you need from the above guys just shoot me an email and I can generate one for you in about a minute.

I just made one the other day for an insurance quote and surprisingly I don't own 10,000 dollars worth of guns so I must buy more immediately!

I'm embarrassed by mine, not because of the volume of ammo, but because of the simplicity.

My columns:

Qty on hand

Qty on order

Caliber

Description, including mfg, bullet weight, etc.

Usage category for self-defense, target shooting, etc.

I run totals only for each caliber, then a grand total fed by the caliber totals....that's it. I update it after each range session and change the date in a description field at the top of the spreadsheet. The total on-hand should be within 100 rounds of accuracy.

Relative to this, I have created inventory tags on my ammo cans in order to check my totals at a glance. Keep seperate cans for each caliber to cover target and SD needs.

If you reload, I think it would be a very good idea. In fact you can print out labels with the load info on them for the individual boxes. That would be a good thing.

I don't have an ammo spread sheet. I don't care enough in general although it would help me remember the oldest ammo, so it could be used. Ammo keeps turning up every time I clean out my garage and I know if it is there, it's at least 10 years old.

Thanks Leroy. Looks like I have it figured out. Running total by brand, total by caliber, and grand total.
