Saint Jude Posted?

I am a retired Police Officer from Georgia. My former agency has not yet provided me with a "RETIRED" ID card, so I am not (yet) covered under LEOSA 2004/HB 218. I have a valid Georgia Firearms License, and a valid Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License. According to handgunlaws.us, Tennessee recognizes both of my permits.

Starting nearly 40 years ago as a small child, my wife was treated at Saint Jude Hospital in Memphis. Saint Jude has invited her back as a "Long Term Survivor", to examine her and update their records. It's all-expenses-paid, plus a per diem. We would be staying in Saint Jude's Grizzlies House for a week.

I checked Saint Jude's web-site, and it says weapons are prohibited "for everyone's safety", even if carried by licensed individuals. I could not find a photo of either the hospital entrance or the Grizzlies House entrance with enough detail to tell if they are properly posted in accordance with 39-17-1359. Does anyone here know whether Saint Jude's buildings are properly posted to prohibit licensed individuals from carrying weapons?

Any assistance appreciated!

You will definitely want to carry a handgun in downtown Memphis and not leave it in your car. I tend to carry a snub in a pocket holster downtown and keep my mouth shut about it. The area around St Jude is not a good area. I do not know if the posting is proper or not....I have not heard anything on this board about a proper posting or any sort of metal detectors. I doubt you'd have any problems from law enforcement, if by rare chance you were found out, since you are retired law enforcement. Enjoy the trip...and if you can go to Germantown...go to Commissary BBQ..it is better than downtown's Rendevous BBQ...better sides and lots of desserts..banana pudding...strawberry cake...caramel cake...pies.

Yep, St. Jude is in a crummy area of downtown. Be careful.

As for the Rendezvous, it's the atmosphere that's the draw for me. The ribs can be hit or miss. Don't attempt a walk between it and St. Jude. Too far and going thru some of the worst parts.
