What's your opinions of factory duracoat. Does it hurt the value of gun. Is it duarable. Do you think its used to hide flaws. Looking at detonics on gunbroker. The owner says was sent back to factory for upgrades along with factory equal to a duracoat I like the flat black look. I'm dead set on combat master. I would rather buy ftf but the're kinda scarce. I don't even want to it carry just want one.

I don't believe duracoat can hide flaws. it is simply a rugged coating( if cured properly). I've duracoated some stuff and it works fine, in certain colors it may even rise the value IMHO.

Kinda depends on what the owner likes if you ask me. I wouldnt do it to a out in the world carry gun myself but one that is hauled say under the seat or something it would give a little more protection to the gun. I also like the multi color ie. camo for outdoor carry.

Duracoat isn't that durable, IMO. It is fine for non-friction items, plastics, firearms furniture and other things that cannot be heat cured. Also fine for doing camouflage patterns and such. Easily more durable than most rattle-can products, but still not what I would want on a firearm that may be subjected to abuse if I wanted it to still look good despite that.

Would I spray an AR15 with it? Only if my base coat was a thermally cured product and I was using the Duracoat to lay down camo patterns.

Its on gunbroker bid is $799 I just like the gun. I plan on putting in safe. Its not such a good deal, as I just like the gun. I hate to buy something that I can't see and feel.
