WooHoo! Didn't hear about this at all, 'till tonight. As of 1 July, we can purchase wine on line for home delivery. Might not be a big deal for some, but since moving here I havn't found a single store that sells fine wines. Getting my order together tommorow. marc3.gif 04.gif voll.gif

Bear in mind that it may take a while for that info to get to the online merchants. Simply telling them that it's ok to ship to TN now probably isn't good enough, their legal folk will probably have to research it before they'll ship anything to TN.

where do you live? One thing to check out too, I am not sure you can order just any wine online. If we sell it to retailers I do not think you can up and order it direct from the winery. Wine labels are assigned by contracts.

It doesn't come from the winery, it comes from on line distribution houses. Places like Wine Chateau or The Wine Buyer. Tn. was one of about 7 states that refused to allow on line sales under the assumption that they would loose the tax revenue. They lost the tax from me because I don't buy the overpriced plonk they sell around here as wine anyway. They've finally fixed that.

Anyone have a link to the new law?

Edited: Nevermind, found it. As it appears to me, they have to be licensed by the state of TN before they will be allowed to ship anything into the state to an individual.

Where are you located? I know of a few good places to get wine that is local and cheap and good.

I'm in rural Smith Co. About 60 mi. from Nashville

I find it really hard to believe that you cannot find wine you want in or around Nashville.

Nashville has a couple of the biggest wholesale houses in the state. I know for a fact they sell fine wines.

Heck Knoxville is way more hick than Nashville and we got French wine and everything around here.

We're moving on up!

So can I have Boone's Farm and the Mad Dog sent right to my door?:puke:

Have never ordered wine online (busta rhyme) but I went to wine.com today and the first thing they ask is where it's shipping to. TN was an option. The prices were not.

When we get our wine on around here it's usually of the Blackstone Merlot variety. You know, the $10 stuff.

I appreciate you purchasing this particular wine! It came from my warehouse!

I handle a lot of it daily, LOL

Then tell me why I can't find the Napa Valley Blackstone Merlot anymore?

Mike, it's an hour each way to Nash. So 2 hrs. drive time & 1/3 tank gas, it's easier to order online.Where I am for "fine" cigars and wine, it's White Owls & Woodbridge.

Napa Valley Blackstone Merlot

We sold the last of what we had a week or so ago. Call Horizon, I believe hey distribute Blackstone in your neck of the woods. Maybe they can tell you a retailer who has some out there.

boatme, buy by the case and stock your cellar. Make fewer trips and always ask for a discount from the retailer.

Anybody buying wine, whether it is by the bottle or case ought to ask for and receive a discount. Most reputable retailers will discount up to 10% if you just ask.

Price matching is a good way to save a buck or two also. If your retailer will not price match you ought to find somewhere else to buy.

I haven't found it in any of my local retailers (and a few not so local) in several months. It's ok though, my wife found a new favorite. Irony Merlot. Their Cabernet is pretty good too.

near as I can tell all wine tastes nasty. So finding a new favorite shold never be a problem. I think my dislike for wine is why they trust me to be out there with all of it. LOL

:P I only like reds. Whites are typically way too fruity for me. A good Cabernet or a Pinot Noir really hits the spot with a good meal though. But more often than not it's beer for me.

For something different, try a Nero d' Avola from Sicily, a Rijoa from Spain, Malbec from Argentina. All very affordable, less than $20.00 unless you go for a Reserve.

I pretty much gave up beer about 8 months ago for my health, (think FAT:death:) so far I've lost 50+ pounds! I'll stick with wine and scotch now. :)

Who has some recommendations for on-line suppliers? I haven't drunk (drank?) much wine recently, possibly because the McMinn County liquor store is in Bradley County.

foister we carry a San Antonio Muscadine. Off the top of my head I am not sure which stores that are carrying it up in JC. I am sure there are some though.

I recommend One Stop Package Store there. They have a big store and carry many labels of wine.

If you guys like sweet wine give San Antonio Cardinale a try. It is far and away our best seller of any sweet wines. I think it is less than 9 buck a bottle retail and pretty much any store you go to will carry it. Drink it cold. You also get the health benefits that comes with red wine with the Cardinale.

I probably need to lay off the beer as I could use to lose about 20 lbs. But I like it soooo much. :D I'll keep those in mind the next time I'm in the wine store.
