A modest proposal (Tax)

With apologies to Mr. J. Swift.

What if there were only 50 federal taxpayers. What if the feds had to collect ALL taxes from the individual states. The states would have to ask the residents to cover the fed taxes. This would leave alot of the final decisions about how much to tax up to the American people. When a Senator has to go home to his own state with his hat in hand and explain to the constituents why he needs so much money, and where it's to be spent, he knows he'll likely be looking for a new job shortly. It would become very personal to the politicians then and they might have to start thinking a bit more about why they are there, and who they work for. :pleased:

There's already something kinda similar being proposed. It's called the FairTax. End retail business is the only one collecting taxes, and the states submit all the money to the Fed. People can say they don't want to be taxed any more by only buying the basic items they need.
