I bought a bicycle yesterday. It is kicking my fat butt. I enjoy it though. I will post pics of me in my bike shorts soon. :sadwave:

What kind did you get? A co-worker and I have been riding at lunch at the greenway in Halls. He went overboard and bought bikes for his entire family (all Treks no less -- $$$). I picked up an older Raleigh from Craigslist for $100 and had it tuned up at the local bike shop. It rides good as new again.

I got a Specialized Carmel comfort bike. Not ready for that small mountain bike seat. It is comfortable and I enjoy it. Just working on my stamina now. My goal is 100 lbs in a year.

This might be slightly OT, but as I've been tearing up the greenways around town lately on my bike, I've been wondering - is it now permissible to carry on the greenways, in light of the recently lifted restriction on carrying in parks?

I guess I should specify this is in the Knoxville area.

That's a good question. I keep mine in a bag, on my handle bars. I don't ride in parks though. I don't want to give any antis any ammo so I am very particular where I carry.

I understand about being particular where you carry. I've maybe carried once since I've received my permit. It still makes me nervous.

That said, the greenways, at least in Knoxville, are fantastic to ride upon, though unfortunately I think they're classified as parks. Still, if it's permissible I'd like to keep a weapon with me when I ride as I know there are some places on the greenways with blind corners and stretches that are awfully secluded.

Just a suggestion, but if you are nervous about carrying your pistol, then I would definitely take further training. There are a lot of vendors on this board who offer excellent training at good prices. It will increase your confidence level in your abilities and the instruction will make you better aware of what you are able to do in a situation you hope never to face. Just my two cents.
