Michael Jackson Dead At Age 50

He did a lot, he was one of the most famous people on the planet, lots of success.

I will not idolize him for this due to his links to being a pedophile. He might not have been convicted, but too many weird things can go on, especially with the super rich. He doesn't have to be innocent until proven guilty in my mind, I am not a jury.

I won't listen to his music either, I will turn it off.

Billy Jean by Chris Cornell was waaaayyyyy better. :D

No one's ever proved he was a pedophile IMHO, but he proved that he was a worldwide musical/dance icon for years and years (and that fame affected him in ways we may never fully understand). Even the average Joe will be convicted in the court of public opinion when charged with child molestation VERY quickly. Especially when you have a history of mental/emotional problems.

True... never convicted.

However, O.J. Simpson was also found not guilty of murder. :D

He did pay an estimated 12 million to the family of a boy, who then declined to give evidence to the authorities thus ending the case. LINK

Then later moves to Bahrain. A place known for (among other things) child sex slaves. LINK

Current Situation: Bahrain is a destination country for men and women trafficked for the purposes of involuntary servitude and commercial sexual exploitation; men and women from Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia migrate voluntarily to Bahrain to work as laborers or domestic servants where some face conditions of involuntary servitude such as unlawful withholding of passports, restrictions on movements, non-payment of wages, threats, and physical or sexual abuse; women from Thailand, Morocco, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia are trafficked to Bahrain for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation

Tier Rating: Tier 2 Watch List - Bahrain is on the Tier 2 Watch List for failing to show evidence of increased efforts to combat human trafficking, particularly efforts that enforce laws against trafficking in persons, and that prevent the punishment of victims of trafficking; during 2007, Bahrain passed a comprehensive law prohibiting all forms of trafficking in persons; the government also established a specialized anti-trafficking unit within the Ministry of Interior to investigate trafficking crimes; however, the government did not report any prosecutions or convictions for trafficking offenses during 2007, despite reports of a substantial problem of involuntary servitude and sex trafficking (2008)

Let's also not forget the "dangling the baby off the balcony incident. LINK

While this doesn't prove anything legally... as a Dad, I can safely say I wouldn't have wanted this guy anywhere near my kids (or anyone else's).

The guy did some great things musically, in the past. Broke new ground. No doubt about it. But to focus solely on past achievements, or pretend the outrageous and at the least strange behavior he conducted later in life seems wrong. If we are going to look back on a guy's life, then let's look at the whole life and acknowledge both the good and bad. Then we'll have a complete picture.

Howard Hughes did some incredible things in his life. A pioneer. But to solely focus on his achievements doesn't give us a clearer picture of him. The real him. The extreme OCD, the pain management, the Mormon Mafia, etc. That stuff doesn't define him anymore than his achievements, but it helps explain him. Or at least some of his actions.

Sorry... rambling. :D

I only have 2 things, mostly irrelevant, but...

this is my current facebook status:

"Why is everyone so sad about a child molester having a heart attack? If you really want someone to mourn, consider the men and women in the military dying everyday in Iraq and Afghanistan for you. They are worth mourning. Can you even name 1 recipient of the Medal of Honor, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, or the Distinguished Service Cross without looking it up?"

and my second, a joke sent to my phone:

Farrah Fawcett arrived at the Pearly Gates and God asked her what he could do for her having led such an honest life. Farrah asked God to simply make sure the children of the world were safe.

You're very welcome.

You kind of have an unfair advantage, being military and all.

LOL There were more, but Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon were the guys in the field book that I connected most with being closest to my time in.

We also watched Blackhawk Down before we went "down the hill" at Fort Knox because we had an extended reception before transferring us to actual BCT.

Today in the news the Supreme Court ruled that children could not be strip searched. In other news Michael Jackson has a heart attack.

Gotcha.

First one I thought of was Navy Cross recipient USMC Sgt. Workman. He was a few different friends DI at Parris Island. I never had any type of contact with him, but I heard about him.

I heard that since he was mostly plastic he was going to be melted down and made into Legos so that children could play with him for a change.

New report in is that it was food poisoning that killed him. Rumor is he was looking through his pantry and found some 12 year old Chinese...
