Looking for a range in Tri Cities

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have to drive up to Tri Cities this weekend and since there are no ranges near where I live, I'm hoping to make this a multi purpose trip. I'd like to find a range, preferably indoor, to burn through some ammo. Can anyone make any recommendations or are the shooters in the Tri Cities as range deprived as we are here in Hamblen County. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

It's hard to believe that in a state with so many gun owners there are so few places to shoot. If only I had the money.......

As far as I know, there are no indoor ranges in the tri cities. I'm not sure about Bristol though, I haven't checked there. The only ranges around JC are the public TWRA ranges, unless you have a private club membership.

I found a listing for the Point Blank Range on West Watauga in Johnson City. The link is dead. Anyone know what's up with that?

They closed down due to a fire a few years back. I've heard some things about reopening tossed around but nothing definite.

No indoor range in Bristol. Kettlefoot Gun Club is there, but it's a members and guest setup.

Your best bet for a free(virtually), non-membership gun range in the Tri-Cities area is the Sciota gun range in the Cherokee National Forest in Erwin. That's where I go when I can. But it's a long drive from Kingsport.

Yep Point Blank burned up. Suspected insurance burn to get his communications and networking company up and running.

So there are no indoor ranges. I usually shoot at the Sciota rd range in Unicoi it is part of Cherokee. Just be careful it is an uncontrolled range.
