Kimber SIS or FN 5.7

If you have a Kimber SIS what do you think about it?

I have a chance to trade my FN 5.7 for a very LNIB Kimber SIS.

I really love the 5.7 and everything about it. I know I will miss it if I trade.

I have never owned a Kimber.

Talk me into the trade or out of it please.

I have plenty of carry guns. So this isn’t an issue.

I have a few 1911’s but no Kimbers.

I'm a big Kimber fan, have a couple. The SIS is an awesome gun as well, I'd love to get one. I'd recommend doing it unless you just don't want to add another 1911 to your collection or have a Wilson or Nighthawk now, since you're not moving up in quality from those. But regardless you won't be disappointed. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would personally trade it away no problems...out of a pistol that 5.7 round is just not as efficient as it is out of the carbine.

To much flash and noise - Too little effect on what you are shooting at.

Get the kimber & I may have a lead on a emp to trade it for. Not my EMP because I'm gonna keep it forever & love & caress it but I may have a lead on 1

I have a SIS 5" and love it.

Only malfunction was using Magtech after shooting about 50 rounds of Remington.

I had 2 or 3 failure to return to batteries. When I checked them later, I found the Magtechs to be .003" larger (case dia.).

I take this to mean that the chamber is of such close tolerances that changing ammo's in mid-match (IDPA) is not a good idea.

It runs fine on Magtech's, just not after some other brand has fouled the chamber.

What's the purpose of the firearm? What will you MAINLY be using it for?

I would suppose that it might be easier to find 5.7, and possibly cheaper, than .45ACP, if my luck and experiences are state-wide. If you want to plink, I don't see why you should get rid of the 5.7.

If you want ot use the firearm for self defense, I recommend the Kimber, because .45ACP imparts more energy on the target with less chance of overpenetration.

Go with the SIS. I have a SIS Pro (4") that is great. I had Jeff Meister, the 1911 'smith at Hero-Gear do some extractor and trigger work on it and it is a dream now. The finish on the SIS is quite unique and for the price is packed with features: ambi safety, night sights, etc.

The 5.7 has expensive proprietary ammo, but has quite the cool factor.
