Any experience with either of these guns would be appriciated. I want a new shotgun for sporting clays and hunting i've got a couple of old 1100's and an 870 i like all of them but i feel like i need somthing better to be competitive at the range. I am considering a winchester SX3 or a beretta AL391 urika 2 both are about the same price around $900 (my budget) but i cant decide between two. Maybe i should just stick with the 1100's i shoot them well. Any thoughts would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

the 870 and 1100 are great guns, especially if you shoot them well. shooting skill and mid grade/good quality gun trumps low skill/high end(expensive) gun every time.

most skeet shooters use a O/U shotgun. would be suitable for a bird hunting gun but so would anything else.

The gun that fits you the best will be the one you shoot the best. For me it is a Beretta 686 Onyx. I've used it for sporting clays, skeet, dove, duck and goose hunting. If I wanted, I could turkey hunt with it too.

check out shotgunreport.com They have a lot of unbiased opinions on shotguns. While the Beretta has historically been viewed as the best gas gun the new Brownings are getting better reviews. The Beretta AL391 gas system is said to be tough to clean and overly complex. Many still love the Beretta AL390 which is now made in the USA, I believe it is now called the Statesman and can be bought at Wal-Mart for about $600+

FYI - Beretta is running a promotion right now. If you buy a Urika 2 btw now and Sept 30 you get 200 worth of Beretta swag free. There are lots of models available for the free stuff.

My $200 NEF pump regularly outshoots $2k O/U masterpieces at sporting clays.

Your 870 and 1100's should be fine, unless you're wanting to be a Gold Cup shooter or whatever. But then again I'm cheap!
