Best secure mount for truck gun/best way to mount

Hi all - I am looking at police-cruiser style long gun locks to securely mount an 870 under the rear seat of my '04 Silverado. I initially looked at a dedicated shotgun lock such as this.

However, I soon discovered that a universal lock was available for $10 more than would give me the added flexibility of instead mounting an AR if I wished.

I assume I'll need a butt plate to secure the butt of the gun, but I don't have any experience with this setup. What I'm looking for is firsthand input on how this kind of stuff works and what a good setup would look like.

This will primarily be for the 870; I'm wondering if the universal lock might be jack of all trades but master of none. If it is just as good as the shotgun lock it might be a better option.

Also, how do the electronic locks work? I imagine that it would be best to hide the release button somewhere where it's easily accessible but difficult for an unauthorized person to locate.

I imagine LEOs would be the best candidates to comment on this but of course I welcome everbody's experience.

Lay it on the floor and throw a blanket over it. Cops use the fancy locks to secure unconcealed shotguns in obvious cop cars.

I wouldn't worry about a lock if it's hidden. I personally am going with this. If it needs to be secured a simple chain lock will work. Plus if I have to take it with me it works equally well.
