No Laughing. :)

I, for one, applaud you for asking the question in the original post. A lot of guys are embarrassed to admit they aren't familiar with something like that. We all started somewhere. I think a good place to start is to take a local hunter safety education course. You will learn some good info, and get to meet your local game warden to boot. Be nice to him and he might just point you in the direction of some prime hunting real estate.

You can pick up a lot of misinformation from the local blowhards lounging around at the local gun shop. You will learn a lot by simply spending time in the field. I wish you luck, and hope you find it as peaceful and enjoyable as I do. When you figure it out, something more fun is to take a child. Nothing in the world gets a young boy more excited than when the first buck walks out in front of him. It is something to behold.

I did 101. As per Tennessee regulations, these are the animals with year round season and no bag

Armadillo Year Round No Limit

Beaver Year Round No Limit

Coyote Year Round No Limit

English Sparrow Year Round No Limit

Groundhog Year Round No Limit

Nutria Year Round No Limit

Pigeon Year Round No Limit

Starling Year Round No Limit

Striped Skunk Year Round No Limit

Also wild hog is year round and no limit on private lands.

You don't have to take the hunter education course to try it out. You can gat an Apprentice Hunting License for $11. But when you go hunting you have to go with someone 21 or older that has a regular hunting license. I've been looking into trying out hunting and have been trying to gather some info before I jump in.
