wait is that a new poll or did they just reword the old poll? Cause the old poll on that page said something along the lines of "will you look for restaurants that have banned guns" or some sort of confusing statement that could have been taken two seperate ways

Voted "Yes." Current results:

Would you go to a restaurant or bar that allows guns?t.gif

the whole article is bogus anyway. The focus is bars where the bill doesn't apply anyway! :D

Will someone explain the new law to me I was told that they lifted the age restrictions and the curfew so you could carry in any place that served alcohol even bars

No age restriction, and there are NO bars in Tennessee (or at least Tennessee law doesn't define "bars"). In order to serve alcohol by the drink you must serve some kind of food - the New Daisy Theater in Memphis has a popcorn machine and sells bags of popcorn for $1.00 or so just so they can legally keep their beer/liquor license.

at least the "about the law" section is there now. I dont remember it being there yesterday

It was there yesterday when I voted, but if you notice the wording it too is quite misleading.

"

About the law

Starting on July 14, handgun owners with valid carry permits will be allowed to bring their weapons into restaurants and bars that serve alcohol, unless the restaurant has posted a sign banning guns. Anyone carrying a weapon is not allowed to drink. Violating the new law carries a fine up to $500."

With the "Anyone carrying a weapon is not allowed to drink" inserted before "Violating the new law carries a fine up to $500." makes it sound like it is only a 500$ violation for carrying and drinking...............not that it is a 500$ violation for carrying in a place posting a legal sign banning carry.

But guess that might just be poor writing skills and not the intentional misrepresentation that has been so common in the coverage of this matter.

I have to seriously wonder if the people who voted "no" understand that people are already legally and legitimately carrying firearms in fast-food joints and anywhere else that does not serve alcohol...

They have no clue, they're just reacting emotionally with no logic to what the media is telling them. The media are the real sheep herders and it's a damn shame many people still trust them.
