I was wondering if anyone could give me a little more information on OHGC. I'm looking for somewhere to shoot and meet some folks and it seems to be extremely expensive to shoot at a place like Useltons (range fees, having to go through getting talking into a membership every time, having to buy a box of overpriced ammo from them, etc.) I went to the OHGC website and found the application to join, but didn't find a lot of information about the details of the range. Are there certain hours of operation? Is there a "trial" to go and check things out? Events held out there often? Any specifics like that I would appreciate. I really meant to come out on Sunday, but the weather down here wasn't looking all that great. Shooting in a field just gets boring sometimes and it would be nice to be able to meet some new people with the same interests. I'm in the Giles Co. area, approximately 60 miles south of Nashville.

OHGC as it was is no longer around. They lost the range to the land owner who is running it himself. You can show up at the range and pay him your money... 40 or 50 dollars a year. I havent signed back up as this past sunday was the first time I have been since last year. I know several others on here are members and should be able to give you the info.

OHGC effectively no longer exists. The land that they previously leased is now being operated by the land owner as a privately owned gun range. Cost is $40 per year or $5 per day to shoot as a guest.

The best way to join is to show up at the range. There is a sign on the shed near the rifle lanes that has the owner's name and phone number. Call the number and see if he is available to meet you and take your dues. He lives just right up the hill and is typically more than happy to walk down and give you the orientation.

Just like they said... In fact, my buddy had me out as a guest and the owner, Charlie, came walking down to check on things. I told him I'd be looking to join up. Not a problem, he goes back up the hill, got the book and we done the whole deal right then. He's a real nice easy going guy. A little talkin and $40... now I can shoot anytime I get the fever.

5: Merge onto I-65 S toward BIRMINGHAM. 14.8 mi

TN-840 exit, EXIT 59A-B, toward KNOXVILLE. 0.4 mi

7: Merge onto TN-840 W via EXIT 59B. 1.0 mi

8: Merge onto LEWISBURG PIKE/US-431 S/TN-106 via EXIT 30. 4.4 mi

9: Turn RIGHT onto OWL HOLLOW RD. 0.5 mi

Owl Hollow is on the left at a sharp left curve in the road.

No problem. You do have to keep an eye out for it. I almost passed it on my first trip out there.

I've been twice in the past 3 weeks. This past Saturday and three Sundays ago. I went ahead and did the year membership. Yes, even somewhat jobless and I could afford $40 for a year.
