Shot the AK

Well today my daughter and I took the AK-47 to the range and put some rounds thru it. Safe to say the target survived to be shot at another day. Out of about 40 rounds, bout 5/6 hit the target at 100 yds, moved it to 50 yds and maybe 10/12 more hit it. When we did hit it, groups were together which was not saying much. This was the first time to shoot a rifle so I didn't expect much and that's just what I got! Right now I wouldn't pick me to be on your team.....

Depending on the model AK you have, you may want to also check the front sight for canting. It may not be all you!

A lot of times the front sight also needs to be adjusted, depending where the bullet goes, the sight post on a lot needs to me moved a little!

Any way, the AK is not meant for snipers! If you can hit your target in a fair group at 50 yards, you are good to go for zombies and other non-desirables.

Yep, just remember the front and rear sight are adjustable, so that may have been throwing you off a bit. The AK isn't meant for precision, if you can get decent groups at 50 yards, you're doing pretty good.

+1 on checking front sight cant (alignment) - Be sure to clear weapon beforehand... You should also have a fairly broad range of sight adjustment available.

Also, you may want to upgrade / hone your trigger, ad a buffer, etc... They aren't tack drivers, but it should give you fairly tight center mass quality groups.

woke up this morning and my shoulder was very sore, wonder why??? Thanks for all the advice for the AK newbie. I think the first thing to do is change the sites on the front of the gun, they are a little lacking. Now if I can only figure out how to do that. Looks....difficult.

I got a scope on mine for beyond 50 yards and a super bright green laser for close quarters...
