That’s an hour and a half long. Let us know when it comes on TV so we can watch it in HD.

Or just tell us what your point is.

I've been to GITMO...these 'terrorists"...enemy combatants...innocent bystanders in the GWOT...MEH...whatever...give em a choice...A/C on an island or a mud hut/cave getting the crap bombed out of ya...

October 2001, 3 men went to attend "a wedding" in Afghanistan. Even a hermit living in a hole knew that a can of whoop ass was going to be unleashed onto the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Is this a joke? These people have families that most likely depend on them to live. "Whatever"...

How heartless.

Wasn't there something that came out that two of these guys admitted of going to a terrorist training camp?

You mean they shot AKs in the desert? Send me to GITMO.

I think the main reason most are still there is because the Bush admin didn't want to admit they chased anyone of any real value into Western Pakistan and left behind a bunch of goat herders that don't know where America is on a map to be captured...by the Northern Alliance no less, who by our own definition are a terrorist organization. If we charged them they'd be found innocent and if we let them go we admit fault. Hence, why they remain in legal limbo...

I think the main reason they are still there is that they are dangerous men. There could be a few goat herders in the crowd, but i doubt it. It seems they are pretty rowdy to me; all you need to do is a google search to find out how rowdy.

It seems that the great Noboma has tried to hand over a few of the "goat herders" -- seems that no one wants to take them. I wonder why. Could it be that others may think that these guys are dangerous -- probably so.

By the way, i wondered where you went. How about the rights of those "goat herders" in pakistan the other day? One thing about it; they weren't tortured. I wonder if they were "Mirandized" via leaflet. You might want to check back in on the ole Miranda thread and enlighten us.

By the way, I seem to remember some soldiers being punished and a general being reprimanded over this pesky "mistreatment" thing. I believe (notice the language) you are drilling a dry hole trying to recycle this one; but I enjoy the attempt.

Keep up the good work,

LEROY

If they are dangerous PROVE IT or set them free. You doubt it? Then you doubt what is known fact. You really should demand more from your government seeing that they suck at least 30 percent of your wealth from you in the name of keeping you safe...

No JOKE Kevin...I have been to GITMO...more than once...as for your comment...tell that to the widows and orphans of those that died in the World Trade Center Attack...oh wait that was our Government that orchestrated that...sorry I forgot.

If what I said makes me heartless in your eyes...so be it...I can live with myself.

Yes, I know. You've already mentioned that. Your point would be? Sorry if I take the assertions of General Rick Baucus and former military prosecutors over someone who thinks just being somewhere makes them an expert...and that 9/11 justifies anything our government decides to do.

as for your comment...tell that to the widows and orphans of those that died in the World Trade Center Attack...

Tell them what? That torture is acceptable? No thanks. Why don't you mention that torture is acceptable to the thousands and thousands of people killed by our government last century? Oh wait...they are dead.

Why are American dead worth more than other country's dead? Invoking 9/11 to justify torture is pretty lame.

oh wait that was our Government that orchestrated that...sorry I forgot.

Um, ok.

If what I said makes me heartless in your eyes...so be it...I can live with myself.

No, not "in my eyes". Most people would agree your world view is pretty twisted. Torturing people and holding them in cages without charge makes us akin to our enemies.

Fascism is alive and well in the US of A....

I don't think they should have ever been brought to gitmo. I think they should have been bombed back into the stone ages. Oh, wait! :D

YEAH!!!!!

War is hell, isn't it?

That empty expression is possibly the biggest cop out in history. The man in that picture had nothing to do with 9/11, nor his dead daughter. I can't think of anything more lame than using 9/11 to justify further atrocities that don't even accomplish a stated goal...

Kevin...I can appreciate your points of view...they have their merit. Unfortunately we'll have to agree to disagree. You can think me a heartless war monger, with a twisted world view. I still think you're a bit naive...and your world view is skewd by CNN, MSNBC, the BBC...and all things anti-Bush.

We should, in fact, demand more for our dollars. We should also institute universal military service so that everybody gets a chance to serve their country. That will allow for some real patriotism and cut down on the third basing and whining that goes on over here from certain quarters.

Tisk tisk-- bad temper!!

Matter of fact, i do. Here it is:

You have made it well known that you are a staunch defender of the right to "due process' and the old "innocent until proven guilty thing". Thats why I know you are concerned about the plight of these poor, put upon peasants; and are more than fully qualified to expain this us. Who read them their Miranda Rights? Who deprived them of their precious "Due Process"? I thought Noboma was for change. Looks to me like the noble Demorats are following the same policies that the "war mongering" Republicans followed. What do you think?

YOU MIGHT WANT TO LIGHTEN UP A LITTLE. AFTER ALL, IM JUST AN IGNORANT OLD MAN -- dont know much about constitutional law, problems with christianity, etc. ---- BE PATIENT AND EDUCATE ME.

KIND REGARDS,

LEROY

And what did the 3,000+ people in those towers do to deserve what they got?

Let me put it plainly for you, (and as nicely as I can muster): If you are dumb enough to park your family next to a military target, it is your fault whether you or your family dies in the strike.

People die in a war. I backed what Bush wanted to do in the Middle East because it was oblivious we were going to have to do it at some time. He also told us we would not have another Vietnam. (I served during Vietnam, although I was not in combat. I spent most of my time messin’ with Castro in Cuba.) Well another Vietnam is exactly what we have. Years and years of BS and people whining about innocents getting killed or jailed.

I could not care less what they do with the detainees at GITMO. If they want to hang them they need to give them whatever a POW gets prior to hanging. I’m not even sure what that is, but they have no Constitutional rights; or they shoudn’t have. I would assume we have specific laws on how to handle POW’s; don’t we?

Nothing. Exactly my point. So attacking people that had nothing to do with 9/11 in retaliation makes little sense.

The problem is your premise relies on taking a socialist government at its word. I personally will never give a socialist government the benefit of the doubt. If the tables were turned, they could justify the death of YOUR loved ones because you had a "weapons cache" (AKA, gun safe) in your home...

Neither do a lot of folks; but they don’t need to. It’s all about emotional drama. :poop:
