Any special rules about carrying on a boat? I have heard of some in other states but am having a hard time finding any info on it in TN. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Carry on TVA lakes and navigable waterways in the state was discussed HERE . Check it out. It might answer any questions you may have.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the most important rule- don't shoot your boat unless you are in less than two feet of water or are real close to your trailor on the ramp.

The only time I've been duck hunting was with my papaw and dad. I think I was 10 or 11 at the time. Anyways, my dad got a duck and we paddle our little flat bottom "john" boat over to it. My papaw puts his shotgun in his lap and leans forward to scoop the duck out of the water when BLAM.....he takes a chunk out of the rear of the boat. :stare: I'm pretty sure I started crying because I wet my pants and my dad was laughing at my papaw which made my papaw even more mad he shot up his own boat. Ahhh....my sweet memories as a terrified child.

I saw guy shoot hole in bottom of his boat when I was a kid, too - below Watts Bar Dam. Pop and I fished the wingwall area a lot and two guys in an aluminum johnboat close to us, one hooks something big, finally gets it up to boat and it's a pretty big gar - anyway he has a revolver, shoots the thing a couple of times in the water and somehow as they're both standing up, rocking back in forth in the edge of swift water, he fires straight down in boat.

Know he holed the boat and not his foot because his buddy starts yelling and cussing him, etc, and they're pulling anchor heading on downriver to the takeout pretty quick after that.

He could have just cut the line. Maybe he thought it was a state record or something. I don't remember if they even pulled it into boat.

Nope, never shot a hole in my boat or any other for that matter. I did however fail to place the drain plug my boat one day while launching on the Clinch. I've owned boats most of my adult life and never did anything that dumb before but on that day, with my former wife bitchin' at me about everything from the temp. to the fact that the rear seat on the passenger side wouldn't recline quite enough to suit her very specific needs, I just didn't have my head in the game and left the plug in it's place in the boat's glove box. I launched, tied up to the dock and went to park the truck. When I returned to the dock, I clearly remember hearing my youngest son saying "dad, there's some water in the boat." I ran to the boat, peered in and to my horror saw the water rising fast. Coolers were beginning to float and when I jumped into the boat I couldn't seem to get my key into the glove box fast enough. I ripped the door off the glove box, grabbed the plug and got it into place when the water was only about a 1/2 inch from coming over the transom. Boy did I feel dumb. All I could think of were the bucks it would cost to refurb the motor after it was flooded with lake water and of course the headline in the local paper that would read something like, Local Boater Gets Sinking Feeling. :wall:

BTW, I no longer have that wife or that boat. Life is good.
