Ok, So I have a Range that I would put up against many, now what I need to do is find out what certification I need to offer concealed carry courses. I'm not into the buisness to make a ton of money, just want to do it as a hobby. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank

I would start with the NRA and find out what is needed besides certification to teach such as insurance, liabilities and so forth.

Good luck.

I was up in Adams 1 or 2 weeks ago to do some Kayaking. Where abouts is the range?

what they dont tell ya is... ya gotta have $$$$ to get started. Plus you have to get letters from the county and city saying the range is legal according to all codes... also gotta get the range certified. I'd also set up a LLC corporation and put the property where the range and classroom is in it... for liability reasons. Buy lots of tables, chairs, tv and DVD player. Trauma first aid kit. Then go out and get a $$$ million, minimum, policy for you as an instructor. Then get the state to come out and inspect the range and classroom. Btw, you will have to meet all codes and handicapped requirements. Then you have to pay the state for a school license and a instructors license.

That will just get ya started....

I figured it was going to be a lot. Insurance and all that. My company does advanced Tactical Training and has a range, but doesn't do this portion of it. Cash to get started isn't going to be a problem. Don't get me wrong I'm not rich or anything, but me and my buddy (whose range it is) will do our best to get this up and running. GLOCKMEISTER Thanks for the fair warning and the advice. spdowling It's south clarksville close to exit 19 Pleasentview area. Once we have all the ducks in a row (at minimum insurance and state Certification) we will launch our website and hope that TGO will accept us and our range. I would like to thank everyone on this site for their support and encouragement.

Looking into the NRA Instructor's Course

Smyrna - Saturday, July 11, 2009, 2689 Highwood Blvd, $285

Leroy Farris, 615-907-4892. , training@farrisfirearms.com

Class types: Basic Pistol, Instructor Training

It's a little closer to the house and if it's an NRA Course it should cover us. Thanks though. Memphis is a little bit of a drive for us here from Clarksville,Adams

Check with M & M Firearms in Whitesburg, Hamblen County. They just went through this battle with the county commissioners and got state approval. Marvin Greene there should be able to give you an idea what lies ahead.
