I just installed a ISMI Captive Steel Guide rod on my G19, and notice a "zipping" noise when racking the slide. Has anyone else run into this?

I'm guessing that the Factory Springs don't play well with the ISMI rod and that's where the contact is occurring. Nads. I wonder if any gunshops in town carry ISMI guide rod springs, and if so, what the poundage I'd need.

If you end up ditching the ISMI guide rod and spring, I'd highly recommend using a Wolff spring and guide rod combination. I use it in my Glock 19 and have ZERO problems. It's not a captive design, but i actually prefer it that way.

David, did you go with a different weight spring? If so, what pound?

I did. I believe I'm running a 13# spring but would have to double-check. I posted about it here a while back in a thread called "Improving on Perfection" or something like that.

Thank you for the quick response. I was just about to hit the search button.

I'd recommend the Vicker's extended mag release for your new 19 also. It made a surprising bit of difference in the ergonomics of mine.
